HAVE: Cornus Mas/ Cornelian Cherry Dogwood Seeds
Comments (3)Wow, love2gardennc, I did not know you posted here. GW must be having some issues there. I'm interested in a trade. The Cornus mas seeds that I have are from fruit that I collected myself from very productive plants. The fruit is very tasty and after putting it through the food mill I did make a bunch of goodies from the clean pulp. Now I have a ton of seeds that I cleaned and dried. I do have access to some small seedlings as well that grow beneath the mother trees. Send me an email if you want to connect. Thanks, Little John...See Morecornelian cherry jam
Comments (2)This is a gorgeous tree in the early spring, and I really like the form. You are lucky to have it. I worked at a place that had one outside my building as a landscape specimen. I never saw any berries. Dogwoods seem to have boom and bust years, and not every other either. I have never seen anything in the way of berries. I debated about planting this in my yard, but I figured I wouldn't get a harvest. I didn't think about using it for pectin and mixing with other fruits! Great report Co!...See MoreWhat are you planning to grow in 2009?
Comments (86)To say I am planting in 2009 I guess is rather premature but I am planting a wish list in 2009. I am most certainly a novice and have been combing this and other websites for a wide variety of tomatoes. When I do plant it will most likely need to be a small garden with vegetables only for my own enjoyment and sustenance. Any advice, suggestions would be greatly appreciated. My dream garden is awaiting in the future... an organic block style raised bed sort of thing. The list (I keep adding but it needs to be shortened) Yellow: Willard Wynn Hybrid: Mountain Pride F1, Ramapo F1 Oxheart: Anna Russian Cherry: Black Cherry Orange: Kellog's Breakfast Bi-color: Hillbilly Beefsteak: Brandywine Sudduth's Strain, Marianna's Peace, Mortgage Lifter Black: Cherokee Purple By the way I am a sucker for the cool names - I haven't actually tried any of these. I grew up with Big Boy tomatoes and other more "traditional" plain looking ones. Thanks, Rachael...See MoreCornelian Cherry Tree (Golden Glory)
Comments (2)What do you want most, the pain or the pleasure? Dogwoods are very messy plants in the autumn. Their chief attraction is the glorious cold weather foliage - the spring flowers are nothing special - but of course this does drop off. If you don't want hassle go for a conifer...........Good luck.
