cornelian cherry jam

Cornelian cherry is a small ornamental tree of the dogwood family, Cornus mas. It has very early yellow flowers.

The fruit is used in Eastern Europe, and I saw a jar of jam in a Russian grocery store, so I decided to try it with what my tree has produced--just a handful, really, as the birds seem to eat them.

It was delicious! Tart, flavorful, and high in pectin. I recommend you try it if you have a source. And if your source is more prolific than mine, you can send some fruit to me.
