Help! Are my roses dying?

Hello everyone! Im new to this forum and to gardening. I just bought two david austin roses online and recently planted them. Later after couple of days I noticed the leaves were dying and turning yellow. Could it be stress due to transplant and heat?Can it be saved? Or is it too late :(?

Keep it well watered and provide shade for it during the hottest parts of the day (you can place a lawn chair over it) etc...
Please no fertilizer for now... Hopefully it will releaf and be fine for you...

What Jim said. Its been gawdawful hot in Virginia and will continue to be hot this week. That's a small plant, I'd put a chicken wire cage around it to protect it from rabbits, rambunctious dogs and soccer balls. Good luck!

Why did you get them so early? Roses are not indoor plants. You should have waited until this spring when you could plant them outside. Indoor heated air is dry and pulls moisture out of the canes. That's why when planting bare root roses outdoors it's advised you hill soil over the canes until new growth appears. Unless you can move them to a greenhouse where they'll get humidity and the conditions are more like outdoors, I doubt they'll survive. Two months ago means you got them the first of December, way too early in your zone 5b. I suspect Palatine shipped them because they thought you were going to plant them outdoors. Normally they don't ship to zone 5b until spring unless requested to do so.

Yes, Photobucket is free, create a free account and upload it there. When it appears in your "album", there will be little boxes of text below each picture: "Email & IM" "Direct Link" "HTML Code" "IMG Code" click in the "HTML Code" box below the picture (3rd one). That copies the address of the picture to your clipboard. Then come here, and in the "post a follow-up" message box, do a right mouse click, click "paste", to paste that address you just copied into the message, then submit that. And voi-la, we can see the picture...

Those pots are way too small! Roses need some room to wiggle their toes in. You need to look for pots that are at least 15 to 20 inches wide and at least that deep. Like I said find resin or plastic pots. clay is not good and will be too heavy in those sizes. Take off any of the black tips but Kate is right. The heavy brown ones that look like tree bark are good canes just older ones. You want to leave those alone. When the temps cool off get them in the bigger pots with good potting soil, keep them watered and be patient. they should recover.

Not enough light. And it might be overwatered, but it sounds like you would be able to tell. Be on the lookout for spider mites too. Remember this; As long as the canes are green, it's not dead. Most David Austin roses slow down to a crawl when it is extremely hot. Somehow give it shade from noon on. Keep it moist but not soaked. Don't feed it until next spring. Right now it just wants to grow a good root system. 1st year sleep, 2nd year creep, 3rd year leap. You'll see a difference next year and the 3rd year it should go crazy.

I always cage our young plants now..
