Not sunburn. The lower leaves are yellow from overwatering, and the divots could be old damage, pest damage, et cetera. The more pressing issue is what looks to be a very moisture-retentive soil. I would re-pot into something with much more perlite and other grit (no sand). Josh

Separate threads would be better, but here we are. Shanesirish5, if you are nervous about the plant's health from chopping a large branch, don't be. If you are concerned about the balance and look of the plant in the future, it's hard for me to recommend that level of pruning through pictures. If you could start a relationship in a local bonsai club, you would probably find someone willing to look at the plant in person and give recommendations. I'm guessing this specimen would rate that kind of attention and effort based on what you've said. Spiritdancer2020, you can use the search tool here for 'gritty mixes'. You'll get a book's worth of manifold opinions, probably all of which work well for jades. At the VERY LEAST, a simple solution that keeps you from having to find a variety of ingredients (if time, money, desire are issues), buy a bag of cactus and succulent soil from a local garden center, a bag of perlite, and mix the two in equal measure. There's no indication where you live, so if getting any of these materials is difficult, tell us where you live and we can try to help. A friend of mine in Indonesia can't get what many of us would call common ingredients, but he is successful with builder's gravel and backyard soil. ez

Hi Linda, very NICE Jade you have there. I'm hoping to get a 'Hobbit' down the road, (not the red tree horn) quite expensive for me right now. Maybe, they will become available in the US soon? I think the Hobbits are very interesting Jades, so are the Gollums. I'm not that knowledgeable about all the different Jade varieties and clones out there either...seems like new ones pop out of nowhere, I've learned a lot from this forum and still learning something new all the time. I hope when you get some non freezing weather you'll be able to see some of the pretty colors on all your Jades, maybe Spring? Enjoy... Josh, love the colors on yours :o)

You can start new thread as you did with your other plant. Your Hobbit/Gollum is very nice with lots of leaves. It could be toppling over since it is quite heavy on the top and not much support around the roots - the soil looks like peat, and that is very light if dry. You could (and should) use better draining medium, made of some inorganic ingredients (I mentioned in your other post). It will be much better draining, aerated and also keep the pot stable. Using few larger rocks (as you did already) will help too. Or you could use a terracotta pots, that are bit more heavy - but regardless the pot, better potting mix will help your plants grow better. All succulents would benefit from excellent drainage, so it would be good if you read about these mixes and prepare batch to repot all your succulents. Make sure you use only containers with drainage holes, and give them as much light as possible. Oldest leaves will shrink-yellow-dry up and fall off, that is natural. But it is usually just one-two here and there. Nothing to worry about that unless many leaves start yellowing and turning mushy - that may be sign of rotting.
