petals - gah!

well yes, they are rose petals and not cat 'flowers' or such but honestly, they drive me a tiny bit insane. Damply plastered to the not very neat paths in my garden, they quickly look a sight, browning and limp, wodged in the centres of hellebore leaves and behind pots, they lurk around far too long. In fact, about now, I start to get very disenchanted with the whole rose thing - too many, they cascade over the pathways causing everyone apart from toddlers and small dogs, to stoop and hunch or get their hair caught up in aphidy thorns. Loads of mishappen roses in various stages of collapse, with many fewer promising buds....and the damn petals! Working up to a massive dead-heading spree (when I will whip the secateurs out too and try to hack a path through the garden before we get reportings of small children going missing). So how do you all cope, especially if you have teeny tiny town gardens?
