Does anyone know why certain words come out in color and underlined, in one's posts?

This is new, and I'm curious.

Cheri, there are those who will continue to make their own tobacco preps despite what I or anyone else might say. TMV hasn't been a major problem for many years and I'd have to look up the date, but the last outbreak in the US in a field of tomatoes was in MO many years ago. There are small outbreaks here and there and I think the last one I knew of was in CA a few years ago. TMV is found sometimes in large commercial greenhouses where it's spread manually, not by insects. And tolerance to TMV is still found in most newer hybrids b'c it's easy to breed in. And perhaps most importantly the commercial tobacco grown in the US for maybe the last 20 years has been TMV tolerant, but that's not true of Turkish tobacco. THe diseaase that seems to make some folks think they have TMV is Cucumber Mosaic Virus ( CMV) b'c the symptoms are very similar to TMV and with the latter there are several strains so the symptoms aren 't always the same. But I've found that you're probably be going to be preaching to the choir when it comes to making up tobacco preps, which are toxic to some plants and no, without doing a Google search I don't remember which ones, and that's b'c most will come back and say their father or grandfather used it and it's great as a pesticde. According to the C & H Sugar website, sugar "has an indefinite shelf life because it does not support microbial growth." I wouldn't have any qualms about using either. The C&H site has some tips on softening hardened brown sugar. Easiest way to use it would be in a syrup. For bland cereal, brown sugar would be best. I like to stir some cinnamon into my hot cereal. You could also experiment with using extracts. A little maple extract (or maple syrup) would be nice. Or maybe part of a packet of apple cider mix... Here is a link that might be useful: C&H Sugar

Yep, that's it, Gill. unfortunately, if the original post is six miles long, it's easy to miss especially on a phone. And it still requires a lot of scrolling down. I usually just go to my profile and the activity tab. But that makes me miss a lot of posts too! So you basically have to sit in front of the computer to peruse the forum in its full glory. Let's just all agree to start a thread with a very short first post and then bombard the next post with the photos so that the "Comments" button is easily accessible. Or do as Martin does---clip a thread into multiple parts when we reach, say, 50 replies. We'll have to adjust because, well, it sucks and admin doesn't listen to suggestions. shoo-in. It's "shoo-in". don't know how you figure that there are 2 who are shoo-ins to lose. We've got one who's spent her career in public service & in government, who's knowledgeable, & whose responses are measured & rational. Then we've got one who's never held any office, who doesn't know how our government works, who's got a hot temperament & a hair-trigger temper, whose only consistency is his 180 degree u-turns, who either cannot keep a business in business or who sets up business to fail, I'm not sure which, & who has demonstrated his contempt for almost everybody in the country, from John McCain (!) to military leaders to women.

If you scroll over the links it leads you to hits on Bing. Eventually, they become like wallpaper and you don't even notice them.

Seems fair. This is an incredible resource for us and they don't charge us for it. They have maintenance costs like anyone. If the advertising links help pay for the site, where's the harm? So many sites do this now, I don't even notice the links anymore.

I didn't disable them, just don't click on them. But I'd sure like to know how to stop the page going crazy when an ad expands from the top and then contracts again. Then I have to wait until it times out. Yesterday it did it to me twice in a row.

I can endure it, but it's better to keep the site free. I've got the latest version of Firefox which blocks things but they're always one step ahead to get around blockers.

Does anyone actually buy any of the products advertised? I just happen to shop at some of the places they advertise anyway.

Aliska, did you download addblock plus to your firefox addins? I never see any of those ads anymore..
