2013 Rose Awards (from us)
Comments (57)Best picture: Fame (blossoms stay on the bush for weeks and even if faded they add color to the garden) Best actor in a leading role: Mellow Yellow (planted front and center, always blooming, "look at me" kind of bush) Best actress in a leading role: Julia Child (love those bright yellow blooms, bushy bush) Best actress in a supporting role: Betty Boop (blooms and blooms, never has any issues with mildew, no need to deadhead) Best actor in a supporting role: Christopher Marlowe (just a small bush, blooms regularly, trouble free) Best visual effects: Gourmet Popcorn (a mini which really does look like popcorn) Best foreign language: Yves Piaget (love the blooms on this bush, but sadly, a tree is shading it and it suffers mildew but blooms on) Best visual effects: Dark Lady (love the blooms, but another mildew magnet) Lifetime achievement: Snowfire (has been in place well over 30 years in a difficult, hot location. It carries on year after year.)...See MoreOT : come play a game and win a gift
Comments (151)oh Susan I was just joking. I thought you were also hahahahahahaa SMILE and be happy. This is FUN...HUGS ANYBODY has any questions ..PLEASE ask....ALWAYS! ha ha not sure if I can answer it Dorothy. What do you mean? All the words on the collage used at least once? OK let me see if I can clarify the mistery: I made a collage with 25 pictures. Each picture has a name on what you see in the picture. YOUR job is to find the right word to each picture. You only have to write a word ONCE!! Then next time you post, you can use totally new words. Your goal is to get as many words matching the collage words as possible by the 18th. I keep track of the correctly guessed words of each one of you. Tonight I will tally up the scores after everone has posted...speack midnight lol. Just not sure how often you all wanna here the scores??? I do not want to discourage the players that did not guess a lot yet ;-) But like MJ when she guessed on the Frosty, she got a lot of other words just by guessing in that direction ...hint hint hahaha I will be back later Just to make sure nobody has any questions and FUN FUN FUN ...under the sun or snow or rain? Geeeeeee I rather have snow right now then rain. ta ta Lucy...See MoreYour Early Tomato Nominee for Golden Tomato Award.
Comments (65)I try a new early tomato every year. This year, Glacier was my earliest. They're OK. Early tomatoes don't impress me much. The best early I've grown was Matina. It was better to me than Bloody Butcher or Stupice. Personally, though, although it may not be considered an "early" tomato Jaune Flammee is always less than a week behind my earliest tomatoes, but even the first Jaune Flammee off the plant is as good to me as the best late season tomato. There is no early tomato that can compete with it for flavor, IMO. I try one new early variety every year just to extend the season a week, but I'd rather have more space in my garden for late season tomatoes, which are far superior in flavor....See MorePoseidon & Plum Perfect Roses
Comments (47)I gave that one to my mom, but I've seen it a couple times this year. I really like the color. It was perfectly healthy this year and we've had a ton of rain this year near Cincinnati. I think I just heard that it was the wettest July on record. I know it's difficult to draw conclusions on a 1st year plant (especially one growing in someone else's yard), but I like what I see so far. From what I've read, the hot and humid isn't a problem for Plum Perfect. However, there was some uncertainty on winter hardiness due to it being a new introduction though. Picture taken a couple months ago...See Moredeeje
