A week or so isn't very long. If you transplant it now, just make sure you don't disturb the tiny feeder roots. Keep as much dirt around the rootball as possible. Keep it well watered.
I can't predict if it would die or not if you wait.
Chances are it would probably be just fine, but, who knows?

Before I planted roses I watched for a full year of how much sun each location got. During all seasons. Because on shorter daylight days we get less sun and the position of the sun changes with the seasons.
I placed them in locations that got 10+ hours per day of summer sun. But, they still get 6+ hours of sun during the other seasons.

If it were me, I'd move it, just make sure that it's really the final spot! I guess in z5/6 Pa sun in the winter is a moot point, eh?

If you do, aside from keeping it watered, I would put a little shade cloth over it until it starts to go so it doesn't get burned while the roots grow & recover to be able to draw moisture into the top of the plant.

I moved a new rose three times this year. It (obviously) was a non-planned purchase. I did what jim said - made sure I treated it carefully to not disturb the feeder roots. It's fine, and it finally has the right home! :)

Now, I have another rose that I have moved three times, but not in the same year. I don't think it matters if you move it now or later, the process is the same.

thanks, but I may leave it till next spring. It does get 4 hours of sun/part sun a day so it should be fine I think.
Then again, maybe I could convince DH to move it to the south side of the house... I have a tiny rose there that I found on the property but I doubt it's worth keeping.

Roses here are naked by Nov/Dec thru Mar. lol

If you don't have to move it right now, then just wait till it goes dormant and then move it in early spring when the soil is workable. This is the least stressful way of moving and transplanting roses in colder zones.
