What causes yellowing of some roses following spring bloom?

The roses all grow healthy & green through spring and their first bloom. Then, some bushes get a yellowish, orange, almost fall color on all the leaves and continue to go through another bloom cycle. I wonder if the plants use up something in the soil (iron perhaps?). It's sporadic and I'm not one to worry about it too much as they always return to green at some point. My roses don't die, they just seem under the weather sometimes. And the weird thing is, the affected plants are not suffering from rust or mildew. Does anyone else get this? I am treating all my roses the same - not too much water or fertilizer. The plants I'm currently talking about are Gruss an Aachen, Jude the Obscure, Pat Austin, Bolero and Eglantine. They are growing in various places, not together. Any ideas?
