That's great that they are showing an interest. And no bickering! All 5 of our kids were here last week, the youngest being 27, and there was STILL bickering! Consider yourself very lucky! It was fun listening to them though. It brought back lots of memories. One ended up being an environmental scientist who tests for contaminates in soil & water, so some of my organic gardening rubbed off!

It was so weird with the no bickering,I was feeling foreheads to see if they had fevers...lol..
Maggie,my Mom says the same about me and my siblings ,although my sister and I get along so well now,not so much when we were younger,I am the oldest and she drove me NUTS...lol..there is also a 10 year age difference between us and we had to share a room ,so I am sure you can figure the rest from there.My brother still picks at me even now that we are grown,he cant help himself...lol..I dont mind he is my baby brother and I do miss him even though he makes me crazy! I remind my daughter that a day will come that her brother will be grown and may live in another state like mine and she will count the days until she see's him next,she looks at me like I am off my rocker...lol..
My son is more involved than my daughter,she has always liked gardening in small doses,but my son,he couldn't stop...lol..much like me! So cute asking what every type we sowed was and repeating the names with perfect fluency!He is the official container filler,at first he was kind of akward trying to find the right position to fill the container,at one point he looked at me and said.."I just dont have the skills for gardening"...lol..he figured it out in no time though! We sowed 21 today and I am sure I will be sneaking back down there once everyone is in bed and do a few more!:D Thanks for letting me share this,and Karen I know a guy that had no parts of gardening when he was young,but as he grew older,has a yard to die for,it's never too late!

That is awesome! I know the feeling. I have two sons, one is almost five, the other almost 8. My 8 year old loves gardening so much, that he now has his own garden, plants his own seeds, and takes care of them. My five year old is just getting into it this year and has decided he wants his own garden that he has offered to share with his father. It is so great to find activities that our children enjoy along side of us.

I know what you mean gardenluv,I try to involve myself as much as possible,sometimes my daughter hates this...lol..,I think this an excellent thing for them to participate in! They learn alot from the experience and it is just great that the time spent can be with eachother!:)

It would be great to hear how many kids are involved in WS,imagine 20 years from now they maybe teaching it to their own kids! That would be awesome!:D

Oh ,yes they will be helping out,probably my son more than my daughter,but that is fine with me!She has her own garden plans going on in her mind and I intend on encouraging her to bring it to life!Her theme is "Goth",so alot of reds ,blacks and spooky looking flowers...who knows..I am just happy she is interested!:) My son's theme is "Snakes,snails and Puppy Dog Tails",an all boy garden!He is very excited to start,and so am I!
So you have the feline type helpers do you? My kitty is indoor but still helps aerate my potted plants...lol..loves to play with dirt!Makes me crazy! I guess I should be thankful thats all she does to them!

It is so much fun when your kids like to join you in the garden. I remember one year my back was really bad and I couldn't bend over to plant things. My two granddaughters said that they would plant the garden. I could dig a hole with the shovel and they would put the plant in and firm up the soil. Later on that summer, my 6YO came running in shouting "Grandma, there is FOOD in the garden" She had discovered a red tomato. All that summer she watched that garden like a hawk watching for the FOOD. Now they are both teenagers and I can't get them interested in the garden unless I pay them $.05/weed that they pull. lol
