Finally Broke Down and Bought a Bucket Taxi

And, boy, am I glad I did. :-)

My African violets and other gessies are in individual planters. I was carting one gallon at a time to my home office at watering time.

I have a bad back and hauling a five-gallon bucket was not an option (carrying the large foliage plants to the tub is bad enough). So, I bit the bullet and bought a Bucket Taxi. These were invented to use when vehicle washing.

What a godsend! I can roll that sucker up to the bathtub and use the hand-held shower wand to fill it and roll back into my office. No lifting!!!

There is also a "belt" around the cart where I can keep my fertilizer, Physan, grooming tools, etc. The only thing different is I use a four-cup measuring cup to fill the Oyama Planters instead of a watering can...which is actually much easier.

I am not affliated with Bucket Taxi, its distributors or its makers. It's just a product I thought some of you might request for a birthday, anniversary or "just because" gift. ;-)

I've never heard of that before... but I love it! My back is fine, but my wrists kill me after holding my 5 gallon tank sprayer that I use for fertilizing. I looked at their website and will be emailing it to my SO. Thanks!

If you have a place you can keep a trash can filled with water - - sump pump and a hose with a wand really make life easier.

You can fill it with water, let this water sit for a while - add fertilizer, Physan and what not - and turn the pump every time you need to water. I keep it in a basement bathroom in a shower - it is a guest area - so I do not need to take it out unless we have guests - and it keeps me from flooding the place - because if I get distracted - the overflow will go down the drain.

PS just do not buy the spiral hose - I do not know who invented it - but the inspiration didn't come from angels.

I bought the 'Deluxe' model this month; used it for the first time two weeks ago Made short work of spraying 300 roses. Mine only makes the 'pulsing noise' when it needs to send water through the hose...so whenever I hit the wand button. Otherwise it is quiet. I'm going to use it again Wednesday...love the 50 ft. of hose and extra-long wand.

I'm sorry Linda. Yes I will share. I didn't realize that anyone here was going after those types and figured everyone was just after tctopcat and 7servant7's plants. I was so sick and tired of being outbid on his auctions that I sent him an email asking if he would consider selling one off of Ebay if he had more. He responded and asked what I was offering so I based my offer on the previous auctions of 5" plants and said $20 or $25. He emailed me back and said that they were going for $40-60 which I knew was bs so I didn't respond. It looks like he would have been better off accepting my offer last week. lol Gloria if you get the Madeline to grow let me know. I've bought 2 sets of cuttings from tctopcat and 5 have died. Most died after they rooted but none ever put out much foliage. I have one hanging on and it has a tiny sprout. I don't know if it's me or the cuttings but I haven't had this problem with any other variety. I've had the cuttings for at least two, maybe three months and they should have a good amount of foliage but that's not the case. At least this one cutting is still alive. These are the plants that I have coming from Caldwell: Jamaica Caper 2 Calotropis gigantea Kumson Forsythia Ylang Ylang Mason's Congo Sansevieria Showy Medinilla I've already received most of my seeds but did place another order with Rare Exotic Seeds yesterday. They have some really cool stuff and there's a bunch of plants on their site that say "seeds coming in 2008". I'd love to know when because there's quite a few that I want. Aurora, Congrats! I bought mine last year I think, or the year before that, don't remember. Just plant it as a tree. That's all. I mulched real well, and mine is planted a little high, but it is doing fine. The nursery I bought it from posted a pic of the bloom, his was not red, real dark orange, and pretty, but not red. I didn't care, I thought it was beautiful, but I paid a premium price for a red one, I love sweet olive, if it doens't bloom for a few years, don't get upset, the red ones take longer to bloom than the white ones.

Buying tv's is almost as bad as buying a mattress. We made the rounds to the big stores and some of the smaller ones for opinions. The quality of this Panasonic is outstanding. We weren't sure about the 3D thing, we have no kids and just weren't convinced but ended up going that way figuring everything will end up that way sooner or later. We've also decided to start doing some gaming. In my almost 50 years I have never played the games. I take that back, many years ago I did the pacman game. It's the 3D movie of Avatar that we are thinking about selling on Ebay. Panasonic rolled it out with this tv as part of a bundle around the holidays. If you don't ask for it now, you won't get it. I am so glad my husband spoke up, with it came the movie and $300 worth of the 3D glasses. We priced those at $150 each. They also through in the Blue ray player.

One more thing I discovered is that four-cup (or is it 3??? can't recall) measurer is much easier on my hands and wrists than the watering can I was carrying. And it doesn't take any longer.

All my plants are in my office so I don't have as many options as some.

Another plus: I hook a plastic bag to the handle and remove dead leaves/blooms as I go. Before I left them on the shelves and went back later with the garbage can.

Oh, it takes 20 gallons to water all my plants.

Irina: You are so funny. "...inspiration didn't come from angels..." You had me really laughing with that one. And the puppy's name is "Russell" after his biggest fan and favorite person at the extended care facility.

Hmm - 20 gallons of water plants in an office? HOW MANY OF THEM?

Russell is a great name - beats "Puddles"! Especially if there is a friend with the same name!

You need a special plant caring apron with a big pocket for leaves, small pocket for scissors and a "plant mama" needlepoint on the top.
