You are over analyzing. Either engine will serve you very well with reasonable care which is outlined in the owner's manual. Most manufacturers do not publish horse power figures because they are largely meaningless.Will 6.75 hp vs 6.5 hp really affect mowing performance and quality of life? I doubt if you would notice any appreciable difference. The things to watch out for are comfortable handle height, ease of operation and quality of cut. Do you plan to perform regular maintenance and keep a mower that gives a superior cut for many years ? If so, step up to a higher end unit such as Toro's SR or Honda HRX. If budget is more of a concern, the C/C will serve you well. Just stay away from the Chinese engines, service is a joke.

I have worked at a lawn mower shop for several years. We've sold both cub cadet and John Deere. This is what I can tell you. John deere's quality has had a big drop, just like everything nowadays. one of the best mowers you can buy for the money is a cub cadet ltx 1042kw. It has a good Kawasaki engine and hydrostatic drive. If you get it from a dealer and not farm supply etc. you get a free front bumper to protect your hood when it's on the trailer or just mowing. Hoods can get over 500 dollars. John Deere about 5 years ago, was the brand I would recommend. But, now I'm afraid nothing runs like a cub. If you can spend more money on a mower, I would recommend a zforce s 48 inch. It is a true zero turn with a steering wheel. The front wheels turn like a normal mower, and the back ones spin like a stick zero turn. Just driving it is very convincing, it is very agile. It runs so smooth and is very nice to ride with the pivoting front axle. How many yards are flat like the floor of a showroom. Just my opinions of driving and working on both of them, hope I helped. Oh, if you mow several yards or a lot of land, check out the commercial line, the highest quality you can get besides a hustler. But without the 10000 dollar price tag.

Interesting that you called it a Prestige and had that particular model name in mind. Nonetheless, now we know that your neighbor has a 38" 17HP base tractor to cut his acreage. You have a 50" 22HP one model above base residential CC zero-turn rider. Your comparison is better understood. Both have their purpose. I am not concerned about any brand or manufacturer. Each stive to produce good products for the various range of task that homeowners and LCOs attempt to accomplish daily. What do you think I read in your post? Perhaps gloating? ducati, You are right but also wrong. On the right side, I should have told the OP that the Cub he is considering is an excellent, well made tractor that will give him many years of use in a residential application. In addition, I should have asked him to tell us what he intends to use the Cub for, the size of his property and so forth because all of that plays into whether the Cub will suit his needs 100 percent or not. On the wrong side, it isn't me that is comparing the BX1500 to the Cub........it's Kubota themselves. Whether it's a fair comparison or not.... the people at Kubota must have looked at the marketplace offerings to see what came close to the BX1500 specs regarding size, weight, hp etc and made the decision THEY did. Regardless of the comparison, the resulting replies have given the OP something to think about along with a ringing endorsement of the CC he is considering. Whether the OP can make use of three-point hitch attachments or the PTO on a Kubota or similar tractor, is something that he alone can answer. All I wanted to do, was to make him aware that such things exist since he is prepared to spend six grand. If he had been asking about an LA series, then I wouldn't have brought it up out of the blue, like I did. Few people spend that kind of coin unless they have a fair sized property to maintain. And if you have a fair sized property, then lots of other chores come with it. Having a tractor with the widest flexibility to handle time-saving attachments would seem to be a wise move. The Kubota provides such flexibility.
