She must have decided to send me something more................but the envelope is in my handwriting..........huh. Did I goof and send her two? There are no stupid winter sowers. Newbies maybe, but definitely not stupid. Just wait until you see that first container with a blush of green in it. You'll be dancing, doing the "woo-hoo" song.
Smart are we, as Yoda would say, letting nature take it's course, with a little bit of nudging from us. Just wait until you try to explain this method to a light bed, heat pad propagator.
BTW, anyone want to grow their own beansprouts? Works for wheat grass, mung (classic beansprouts) and alfalfa. All you need is the seeds or beans, a mason jar and cheesecloth. (Actually I'll just swing over to "conversations" and post how-to there).

Stupid winter sowers... I don't think so. We not only embrace watching nature doing her thing, but we also do it in the most Earth friendly way. We leave no carbon footprint, none what so ever! We don't use electricity, we don't have to replace ($) bulbs or buy ($) fancy equipment. What do have to do, is recycle! In my opinion, you really have to be pretty smart to get all that!

broyster is part of my email address, but that's not one of my SASBEs. I always give my real name (in emails) and GW user name. I use the small homemade envelopes, but never ID seed envelopes with numbers. I label with common name, Latin name, and as much other info as I can fit on the label. Also, I haven't posted SASBE offers or trades since mid summer 2007.

Thanks to Nikki, I am fixed up now. I guess that I just thought I had already received the seeds from columbusgardener because I still have all of the envelopes I received in trades and offers and I didn't find another one from her. By the way, she was extremely generous with me and sent some interesting things. I am off to buy potting mix tomorrow. Nikki sent me the email that identified my seeds, so I am in business now. Don't feel stupid - My first year, I was so darned confused that when a few packets came, I never knew who sent me them and used their real names (not their computer names), so I couldn't figure out who was who.

now my secret is revealed - my handwriting sucks. There are several nuns out there that warned my parents that I would never be understood! But I digress - yes those are Blue Fortune I filled the envelopes and then realized I would forget what I had in them if I didn't get it done right then.

My son came home from Iraq without telling me he was coming, I went out to get them mail and he and his brother came into the driveway and I forgot all about the 25
envelopes waiting to be returned. So on the 31st I filled them asap and got them out so they would not be here to ring in the new year with me ( I try to get my bills paid, house clean, and trash out before midnight )

It was a confusing time for me as well. I had done the Secret Santa Swap and had also sent a few SASBEs to a few others. My son and DIL were here and since they live in Africa, it is a once a year thing. We were all going on a cruise for Christmas so I had a little too much going on. I also sent for some Hot Pepper seeds that had very specific instructions. You needed a bubble envelope, small envelopes inside that were labeled with the variaty you requested, postage, etc. I did all of that and mailed it before we left on the cruise on Dec 21st. It has still not arrived, but it also has not been returned to me.

My experience with the post office this year has not been good. In the Santa swap they returned something. Then I got a call that said a package couldn't be delivered because I didn't have a mail receptacle. Then when I went to the PO to get it, they couldn't find it. They also told me there was no such house number on my street. Then they found the package and it was marked with two things, both wrong, but one said "address is a vacant house but they were home". Neither house is vacant, and "hello", if they were home why didn't you leave it. Could it be because you were at the wrong house? My mailbox is in the same place it has been for the past seven years. It is about a block from my house because they don't want to drive down my street since it is in the center of the loop they drive down. Last week I found a neighbors mail on the ground under the mailbox. I have two friends in this town with the same last name but are not related to each other. They live 2 to 3 miles apart, but get each others mail. If we pick up each others mail, or put the ones that are delivered wrong to us, in the right mailbox they ask us if we know that is illegal.

I guess when I think of government waste, they are the first ones that come to mind. FedEx can find my house, UPS can find my house. Even Carnival Cruise got me to Cozumel and back befoe the PO can get a package from Oklahoma to Maine. Maybe one of them should carry the mail.

Wow, what a great surprise! You go out to get the mail and come back in the house with your son! I think you can be forgiven for forgetting about the 25 envelopes!

columbusgardener - What a wonderful surprise for you. I don't have children in the military any more but I do have one living out of country, so it is wonderful when he comes home.

No harm done here. I appreciate your generosity with the seeds and I am anxious to plant them. Even if I hadn't gotten the code sheet, I would have planted them. I was just worried that "someone" was going to think I was awfully ungrateful for not sending a thank you.

I mentioned once befoe on this forum that I had received seeds once on an offer and they all came mixed together with about 20 names printed on one envelope. That was my first attempt and it took me over a year to get involved again because that pack didn't do me much good and I didn't know what to expect. I am thinking I may just dump them in a flat and see what I get. If they are tough maybe something will grow. LOL
