Thuja plicata in the USA Midwest?

Thuja plicata types in the USA Midwest, East...?

Is there any reason they don't sell them here very often? Not hardy enough? Get too brown in winter compared to other Arborvitae and similar things? More brown than typical Eastern Arborvitae? Less profit?

Thuja plicata is suppossed to grow reasonably fast and take pruning better, is more attractive it seems in typical foliage... but now the 'Green Giant' hybrid is supposed to be a perfect plant?

Also, the Oriental Arborvitae obviously was commonly sold decades ago, since old ones are all over the city and are obviously hardy, but are now not sold anywhere here. I guess the choice now in the market is either Emerald Green or Green Giant.
