I would think so... I would think that with lower temps, indirect light, all plants grouped together and tented, as Al suggested in your other thread, and watered well before you left... they should fare ok... I might even go so far as to set up some kind of drip or wicking system to help... link with picture below. It would be better if you could find someone to plant sit for you. I live in Northern Ma...Just on the border of N.H almost near the coast....So it can get cold here still by May which leaves me no choice except to wait until the end of May when all are safe outside. Ia m hoping to go to Florida..Far from here. I tried that stay home and relax thing and it did not work out. All I wanted to do was work on the house and more..Not good. I am talking about sleeping on a beach for days or reading a book on a chair at teh beach or by a pool, maybe Pugs house, Laurs or Patty's..lol I get up at 5 every day, run a cleaning buisiness, then work full time..Work out 4 days a week after work at 8 pm and then care for my parents about that. I also care for my home, feed the birds, cat, fish and plants...lol MIke

hang, Interesting idea. You could advertise on local Craigslist or set a website people can Google. I tried Googling "Plant Sitter" or " Plant au Pair" in my area and all I get is How-To sites. So it seems to be an open field. The only difficulty is getting the your info out there without confusing it with the many other plant care info sites. One could tie your site to a local nursery where they recommend your services and if you are searching for someone that may be the place to start. aloha

Hi Alba, I feel your pain, LOL...I am going to visit my Sister in Las Vegas in Oct and my poor Hoyas/Plants are at my DH's mercy. At least you have your Mom to water yours, I'll trade you, LOL... I love him dearly, but my DH is NOT a plant person, he doesn't know the difference between a Hoya and a Jade plant,you might say he is "BOTANICALLY CHALLENGED", LOL and I'm so so afraid what I will find when I get home. I'm already giving him some prep talk and mini lessons. All he says is, wait till it gets closer, I won't remember all that...I am doomed :o( just kidding, I think I will just call him every day and tell him exactly which ones need/not need watering. That might be the best way... My only advise to you is to tell your Mom to water the plants when they are mostly dry, except some of the ones that you know prefer a little more moist. I'm a Hoya newbie myself, only started January of this year...Good Luck!I'm sure your Mom will take great care of them, feel sorry for me instead, LOL... Enjoy your vacation!!
