Does petal count increase as the bush mature?

My recent OGR purchases from March have bloomed on and off since then, and IÂm now starting to wonder if what IÂve purchased was correctly labeled. According to the vendors these roses are one-year-old own-root roses.

For example, my Duchesse de Brabant does not have the full petal count as photographed here on the forum and HMF.

My Lavender Lassie, Parade, American Beauty, and Thomas Affleck could all be considered single-petal blooms as well.

If necessary, IÂll count the individual petals to give you all a better idea of what IÂm dealing with, but I wanted to check in with you all first to see if this is just a phenomenon associated with immature rose bushes.

Thanks for any and all inputs!

Audrey
