Unless you know someone who knows what they are doing and can weld, you could have them weld brakets and mount wheels. Or, you could drop some money on a new deck. Or buy the Bronco model. MTD decks usually have 2 wheels, rear mounted, unless you have a cub cadet with a 42' deck, which have 4.

If your lawn is that rough that your big wheels can't keep the deck from scalping w/ that small of deck- gage wheels won't help much. It really isn't a great unit for rough cutting , btw. The answer is really working on the lawn to level it. It will be better for you and the tractor in the long run. If it is leaving uncut grass in the middle, clean the deck and set the deck pitch front to rear. Normal is 1/4 - 3/4" lower in the front, tho it may take some experimenting. Watch that the end of the blades haven't been mashed already from scalping.

Hello J: I have a TB Pony and had the same problem. Boughht a gauge wheel kit from sears. Easy to put on and really helps me keep from scalping. Just follow included instructions closely making sure to measure correctly. Cost about $40 with tax, but worth it! Mike

It couldn't hurt to install the gage wheel kit IMO. But before you do, do as tomplum suggests....adjust your deck so that the front lip drops down about 1/4-in. lower than the rear edge. And, check the ends of your blades to be certain they are square and undamaged....otherwise your blades will be too short. Many times these decks are not set up properly from the seller. The procedure should be in your owners manual. Do it on a level concrete surface. Deck wheels probably won't cure your the leftover strips of grass in the middle but can help over the rough areas and in turns.

There is an MTD OEM part number for a set of rear-mounted deck wheels for all of their entry level tractors. I've always felt that deck wheels helped on bigger deck and the bigger lawns they are used on. Smaller deck...smaller lawn...owner more likely to fill the holes in...just a theory. The uncut strips should mostly disappear with deck leveling but can still appear on sharper right hand turns as the 2 blade deck system does not overlap well except when turning left (all 2 blades have this problem in my experience--3 blade decks have a blade to 'cover' that strip of grass no matter which direction you turn the tractor. I'll try to remember to look up the part number later today... "OEM-190-183" is correct number I think.
