Caring for Gallicas

shellfleur

Hello, I have two gallicas that are in their second year: Belle de Crecy and Belle sans Flatterie. Both are blooming well this year but each have very floppy canes, which would be laying on the ground if I had not propped them up with stakes. Do these two gallicas just have floppy growth habits? Will they build up to become strong, more upright growers in time? Should I prune them to try to create a sturdier plant. I'm hoping that Olga will chime in here and anyone else experienced with gallicas. Thank you! Shelley
