Just planted a Crimson sentry maple in the backyard and have to populate the new beds around it. Was planning to plant a japanese maple around 6 feet from the base of the sentry maple. Would love to have something thats bright green to provide a contrast but it can't get too big (no bigger than 6-8 feet perhaps). Shorter mounding varieties would be fine too. The spot is mostly sunny with some shade in morning and late afternoon.
I saw "autumn moon" at the nursery and loved it (although not green) but seems like it gets fairly big?
I also saw tiger rose which might be okay in that location but not sure if its the shade of green I wanted. Loved the color on aureum but they said it was for shade only.
Any comments on the ones I listed above? What about "waterfall" or "viridis" that I also saw? Its hard to tell what their color will be in summer since they have spring colors now mostly.
