I ordered Blanche Neige, Compassionate Friend, Grace Abounding, Ice Follies, and White Quill. I am on a white rose craze lately for some reason. I bought Compassionate Friend (pink) to grow up a bit in a pot and then give to a good friend next spring.

Yes, I researched the roses I was attracted to before I bought. I used help-me-find, the hortiplex here, and another rose forum to research, as well as general internet research.

Other roses I've planted this year: 2 Sally Holmes climbers, Angel Face, Memorial Day, The Fairy, Rainbow and Sunny Knock outs, and several miniatures.

I would like to give a shout out to Cliff from Eurodesert for awesome speed, careful packaging, and quality of the bands. They were shipped Monday morning and I received them yesterday afternoon/Wednesday (all the way cross-country to PA). The bands were healthy and the soil still moist (he adds crystals to the top of the containers). Two of the bands have buds forming. Will be getting them planted this morning.

I got polyanthas, six of the '50s varieties named for the seven dwarfs. Sleepy was sold out, so I'll get that when it's available.

They are nice, leafy bands, one with blooms, and they arrived the day after shipping. As Maeve said, they were carefully packed and I agree that adding the polymer moisture crystals to the top of the pots is very helpful.

This is a good question in general. I think several of us are at the point where we are transitioning (again) as we've filled up with the 'big kids' to smaller roses or roses that look 'different' from what we have. I started years ago with HTs, found Austins, found OGRs but didn't really have a place to put them until a couple of years ago, now I'm looking at smaller bushes that will fill the place (and provide longer bloom) of perennials - I'm especially liking small, bright single florabundas.

4) Yes, I researched, with HMF and this forum, but mostly only wanted to see what the flowers looked like since as I said I was interested in small floriforous bushes. Smell wasn't even a factor as I have plenty of that already.
5) Last 12 months about 100 mostly from Vintage, some from Ashdown & RVR
6) Good question. My rule at the mountain house is bulbs, perennials, roses & shrubs since it's all on drip. If it's not a winter hardy perennial I probably won't get it again. I enjoy finally having bulbs that flower one species after the next but want the smaller roses to provide more regular color. I sprinkle annual seeds around and what comes up, comes up. While I have concerns about water, those will be satisfied after what I have gotten have matured and have deeper roots so I can water more sparingly.

I think this rose just looks gorgeous gorgeous. I'm on a big lush intense pink kick lately. We'll see which of the few I've ordered this year end up being my favorite with that sort of look.

Yes, I always try to research as well as possible if they will do well in my hot/dry climate. Cliff answered my questions well and I'm willing to experiment some, too.
I tend to ask the rose seller if they have advice, and I also search this forum as well as helpmefind.com. I especially like to see photos and comments by people with a similar climate as me. Sometimes I'll ask someone specifically about the roses on my list.
