Rabbits' eating habit is very obvious, they will eat things in whole, from top to bottom,some time leaving nothing behind. Summer insects will make holes. Snails, slugs will start (usually) from the outer most leaves, will eat the tender parts, leaving behind the vains. Also, snail/slugs need a bigger plants to munch on, because they hang on the leaves and start chewing them. Since you are in zone 9 probably you have snails, sluggs or both. SLUGGO, as I have heard is a safe organic cure for snal/slug problem. OR, if you find out that you have snails, you may consider hunting them and eating them. As the saying goes: IF YOU CANNOT BEAT THEM, EAT THEM(Grin !)

Good information. My B&Bs usually suffer minor damage. It has never been bad enough to worry about, but if it gets that way I'll now know what to look for. Generally I'm hands off when it comes to bugs, the exception is infestations of aphids, and also white fly and spider mites in winter. Perhaps the yard's semi-rural location means a better balance of insects, so I get off easy?

a pic would sure be helpful ... you said .. you doubt bunnies... NEVER use chemicals until you ID the pest ... cutworms hatch to moths very early in the season.. they munch a few leaves.. then disappear.... that is not your problem...IMHO .... could be slugs .... if so .. try the FAQ's and the search function.. maybe a couple hundred posts about 10% vinegar or ammonia... in a pump tank ... ken

It does indeed sound like the pesky tomato horn worm. A dead giveaway is to look for their droppings which are little black specks. Get up early and you're sure to find some. They are green and extremely camouflage with tomato plants. Good luck!
