Hello Everyone; my first time here. I have a problem and I don't really know how to post a new item here, so I will use this as it is relative. I have just replace a ring gear on my 28N707 Briggs 15 hp engine. It had a plastic ring gear and a plastic starter drive gear.Teeth on ring gear has too many sheared off. The new ring gear is aluminum. The job was a success and the engine will now turn over. Problem, it won't start. It was running fine at middle of fall, when the teeth sheared off. I reinserted the woodruff key in the flywheel when I reinstalled it. When I try to start the engine, I do get some backfires, but no attempts to start. I think it must be timing. Where did I screw up? My first time at doing something like this. I would appreciate any help I can get. Thanks....................Phil

I think the LA series are very well built and if they aren't abused and are maintained will provide many years of service. They are not like the deeres of old but what is made like the days of old these days? not too many things. I took a LA165 home and used the 30 day promise to trade up to a x320 and am glad I did only due to having 3.5 acres of hills and inclines and I didn't think the LA series was enough tractor. I pull a 850lb yard roller and it's effortless and I weigh 240lbs with 90lbs of ballast in the tires. I think the john deere quality shows in all of their series but you can't compare them to the deeres of the past it's not a fair comparison. I spoke to several of the techs from several dealerships that said they have not seen a x320 in for tranny service in forever if that helps.

Propane costs vary by region, so my experience may not be yours. I have had no problem with impurities here in Central Texas. Propane is about $2.50 per gallon. Mercaptan is added and settles to the bottom so that when the tank is nearing empty you will know it and have it refilled. It's a safety precaution as without it propane is odorless. In my locale, electricity is the most expensive, natural gas is the least, and propane is a bit more than natural gas. However, natural gas lines do not go out to my rural area, so the choice is electric or propane. I chose the latter, and received some rebates for doing so, since propane is drilled and refined in-state. I fully understand that both initial expenditures and ongoing costs factor into decision making. I have a beast of a propane stove (60", commercial) and am not sure I could get accustomed to more usual, sealed burner, lower BTU ranges, even though I do have an additional 30" cooktop with sealed burners. It's mostly visitors who use that one. I really don't like sealed burners for the way the flame curves out and around, especially when I use small pans. I also prefer that my range not dictate to me where I can place my pots. Your wife may not mind these things. Many do not. It seams all the prettiest residential ranges, e.g., La Cornue, Lacanche, and AGA, have sealed burners and variously-sized burners. BlueStar has open ones and is about as beast-like as you can get in a residential range. So, for me, one of the questions that needs answering is how important is that gasp-this-is-beautiful sensation every time you walk into the kitchen relative to that wow-this-stove-performs-beautifully-and-reliably sensation every time you cook on it. This one is from my own sweet mom, who is mother to 9 of us. To save on bathroom storage space ~ which, let me tell you, was at a premium with 9 kids! ~ she gave us each a simple, inexpensive, plastic tool-type caddy to keep our own personal bathroom necessities (toothbrush, comb, brush, etc. ) in. They were stored on a shelf in our bedroom closets, to be carried in and then back again, as we needed them. This helped a lot to keep our bathrooms uncluttered and organized. Mom also bought one of this type of plastic baskets for each kid to catch of our dirty laundry. She wrote our names on each of them. The plastic made it easy to keep clean and the holes kept our dirty clothes somewhat aerated . . . which really helped with our brothers' stinky things (LOL). The handles made them easy to carry back and forth to our laundry room. Lynn
