How long has JDeere used the K58 tranny in their X series mowers?

I'm still debating whether to buy a X300 or X304 42" rider.

I think the X300 would serve my purpose (acre or so, old established, relatively flat yard), however I like the X304 for the stronger K58 trans. Is this a proven transmission? In other words, how long has Deere used the K58 Tuff Torq trans? Likewise, how many years has JD used the K46 transmission?

Whatever I buy, I want to use it for at least 12 years. One thing that concerns me about the X304 is the all wheel steering, While nice since I have multiple trees and shrubs, the AWS seems like something that could easily cause mechanical problems as the mower ages. True? How long as JD used AWS in their riding mowers?

Also, could someone please explain (in lay person's terms) what static load capacity means? I saw it listed in 1 of the discussions on the Tuff Torques transmissions.

Thanks so much for the help!
