Happy Mother's Day to the moms on this forum :)

I snapped some pictures as we are expecting rain tonight and things just won't look the same after :)

Marleah, my eyes just kept getting bigger and bigger as I looked at your gorgeous and HUGE rose bushes, which are absolutely covered with flowers. So very impressive. The Marechal Niel bloom is so beautiful. Your Mrs. B.R. Cant must be about five times as big as mine! The teas love you!

Thanks, Al! These were actually purchased, and are a hybrid, I believe... it's still a very small patch, but as it grows, I'll keep you in mind... if you still want some. So far, we get about 4-6 plants that bloom every spring in a tiny patch, and they've been planted for about 5 years. They are spreading, but very slowly. I still have to upload it, but there's a later photo from about a week ago, and it shows those purple Trillium with the mottled leaves, but there's also a plain leafed one next to the group with a white flower. That one, we didn't plant... and I'm wondering if they revert back through possible pollination with a species type from somewhere in the vicinity, or if they simply revert as they spread? It's not a plant I'm all that familiar with, but I do like it for our more shady areas. I'm trying to go through my photos today and at least get them off the camera and onto my hard drive so I can work with them. I'l see if I can find the photo I'm talking about. My older son turned up this morning with two stems of marsh marigolds. LOL He said, "And you thought i forgot!" What a guy... I'm hoping this means there are rocks in the Mother's Day/birthday forecast! Dh and i and his brother and sister-in-law are taking his mom out for supper tonight. Not sure who else will turn up. That reminds me - i'd better make reservations soon. My mother doesn't live here and i forgot to order flowers! Bad girl! I have to wait until later now when their Safeway opens and then i'll call them in a panic. :) They know her and will put together something nice for her. Happy Mother's Day, everyone!

Hello Everyone... Thank you all for the Mother's Day greeting... Randy...i remember whe i first started posting here on the palm forum...I remember someone saying..." We have a sister who enjoys the Palms..." LOL.... yes hopefully we wil have more "sisters" who love to lift and move around these lovely monsters...LOL... i was hooked from an early age...always loved the look..never imagined that we could grow these here in VB..now look at all of the palms here...wow how things can change... Greg... i will let you know about June.. I would love too..i will email you and let you know...... Temps here are warm..not the real hheat that we normally have...its actually nice...average in the upper 70's...ill blink and it will jump to the upper 80's...so im enjoying the mild temps until the real heat and humidity hit... Belle, how fantastic that you had an eagle in your yard. Not many people can say that I'll bet! ;o) Sorry he was after the other birds though--I thought they would mostly look for field mice or something. You sound like me, I get up thinking I'm going to get all kinds of things done, and run out of steam quickly. At the end of the day, I feel pretty good if I've at least accomplished "something". ;o( Anj, there's no running in Laser tag--you just move around dodging behind walls to avoid the other team while trying to score points on them and hopefully get to their "base" to score the big points. The "team" with the most points wins of course, and you get individual points too. You should try it at least once. I'll bet your boys really like it--sort of like being in one of the video games! LOL Little GD turned 6 this week. Time sure goes by fast! This is a busy month for their family--Mother's Day, Anniversary, and little one's birthday all in one week! They decided to celebrate her birthday this weekend, so even though she's gotten to open a couple of presents and blown out a candle on a cupcake and ice cream sandwich--we are going out to dinner and then doing cake and presents tonight, then they are going away for the weekend. She stayed with us last night while her folks went out for their anniversary--kept asking for "hints" as to what her presents were! The suspence is hard at that age. I painted a couple little garden signs, I need to seal them then I can snap a pic to share. Yes, Belle, each cartridge has different fonts or graphics or words so you can make different things. One that I chose cuts out paper dolls and all kinds of outfits for them. Figured little GD and our neighbor's niece would have fun with it. I just finished a little garden sign with some dragonflies and a monogramed plate--I'll snap a pic if anyone wants to see. Gotta go get my shower and get busy. TTYL Luvs

Wow those are some large bushes! Please tell me my Mons Tillier will not get that big :)

My Mrs BR Cant is a flopping balling mess this year. It's alway something.

Your garden is beautiful, hopefully the rain will not ruin it.

Gorgeous! Curious - do you use fertilizer, and if so, what do you use. And how old are they? I've never had bushes that loaded with blooms. You must be elated.

Hi Mgonzo: I love all your pics. You have the perfect climate/soil for roses.. lots of blooms, very nice. Thanks for that lush spring flush. Nothing can match the beauty of a rose bush, not even the lilacs here!

Those are absolutely beautiful! Such large floriferous beauties. Is the clematis Marie Louis Jenson? It is a real beauty too. too sad that rain is coming to spoil them.

Your teas just make me swoon. My oldest are 3 years old. I guess I'm wishing my life away wanting them to be as old as yours.

Thanks all :) sorry for my delay in replying- I am now back at work, so time is more limited that it was last month -

HarmonyP- no fertilizer, too lazy. :)

Sidos- the large pink bush is Mons. Tillier

OrganicKitten- the clematis is "The President"

I was thinking back to how old these bushes are- they must be 8-10 years old. Pretty much left them to do their own thing, and this is what happened. I have another rose bed with newer, more immature roses (teas and noisettes) that I haven't shared pics of yet- as they just arent as pretty. But I will post those soon so others with newer roses can see what my younger plants look like.

I would guess in that bed I have some roses that are 5+ years old, some closer to 3. I do know I have Homere- and I refuse to get rid of it because it is harder to find, however the blooms are never pretty. (They just dont open here). After I have the mulch/compost blown in next week I will be planting my newer rose bands and work on getting those well established this summer.

Thanks for the photos and good wishes in that most rewarding of work, being a mom. I had a good day, went on a walk with DH, found a feral white iris to bring home, ate strawberry shortcake that my daughter made.
I just love your roses! And I love how you grow them, without fuss and giving them time.
