Winter Sowing Exchange

HAVE: Castor beans, hyacinth beans and more . . .

I have the following available for trades. They were all given to me by generous friends who enjoy receiving my extra winter sown plants. Please see my exchange list for other seeds that are also looking for new homes.

castor bean - 2 trades of 10 seeds each

hyacinth bean, purple - 3 - 12 seeds each

hyacinth bean, white - 1 - 6 seeds

unnamed hosta, light green seersucker leaves - 2 - 24 seeds each

I am interested in trading for:

trailing annuals for hanging baskets

Iceland poppies

calendula - especially dwarf varieties

thunbergia - any

nasturtium - any except Jewel and Cherry Rose

any blue flowers I don't already have

I would love to trade for your black castor bean seeds. I have a Rose of Sharon seedling (will have tons of seeds, but are not ready yet), have Canna 'Indian Shot' (small plant, haven't bloomed yet, so no seeds yet), have a very few White Texas Star Hibiscus seeds, have white Baby's Breath seeds, have Orange Noah & Chocolate Rose Silk MG's growing, but no seeds yet, have 4 o'clock 'Broken Colors' and the white with pink splash, have Red Habanero, cherry hot, Hungarian Hot Wax pepper, or see my list. Runner beans will rot if too wet. I sow them indoors in April or outdoors in late May and water only sparingly. Do not presoak as they risk rotting. Don't winter sow. They need warmth. If you can get them started it may be possible to get a crop as they grow very fast in warm conditions. Mine started cropping about three weeks ago and it's been about 60f here. No way has the soil been 65 - 70! You could also consult the legumophiles on the Bean, pea and legume forum.
