Another Blue Sea Holly question

I have a blue sea holly, not sure of the variety because I got it as a seedling from a friend a couple of years ago. Last year it was a gorgeous blue from the ground up. This year it is a solid green.

Any thoughts what happened?

I'm guessing but it's only a guess: I don't think it's an invasive one because there are only two seedlings from last year, not thousands like I had from my agastache. (I will NEVER leave agastache flowers on for the birds to eat in the winter again, I think they are worse than morning glories for seedlings!).
