I was going to say our 'Prospero's were nowhere near 4 ft., but looking at this pix from today, I think they may be close to it. Not as wide as 4 ft, but then, there are two planted together, so as to make almost a low hedge.
These plants are easily 10 years old, own-root, and were pruned annually for their early existence -- tho they no longer are.

Jeri-thanks-4 x 4 sounds great. Made Wijaya (sp?) climbs bouganvilla into plumeria-have u tried w/roses?

Maui, Our Plumeria aren't large enough to provide a framework for climbing.
Probably the largest of 'em is only about 5 ft tall -- tho we have hopes.
In our area there are old Plumeria which have grown to be quite large,
but the past couple of years have seen spells of cold deep enough to kill a few of the smaller ones here.
'Dr. Kauka' succumbed to a big freeze a year back.
I'd like to think some would eventually achieve such proportions.
Meanwhile, we do have at least one roses climbing a huge old seedling avocado.

FWIW -- and this I suppose won't work for everyone --
when we pruned Prospero, it topped out at a sad-looking 2.5 feet or so in height.

Mine don't get pruned too terribly much.
Also, they are vase shaped, so it's narrow at the bottom and wider at the top.

Well, My Molyneux is kept at 6 feet high by 5 wide.
Sharifa Asma is short of 3 feet and about the same wide.
Jude the Obscure is trimmed back now but got to easily 6-8 feet wide and 3-4 tall. This all takes place in Zone 9 where it rarely freezes and summer is in the 70s and low 80s for the most part.

I wonder how much day length affects roses-we have a long growing season but our longest day is just over 13 hours of daylight.

William Shakespeare 2000 - 8' W x 4' H You must provide some space for this rose to fully appreciate its habit.

The sizes of all of these will be much larger in a warm climate with a long growing season. Prospero is the smallest at 4x4 here. My Pat Austin is over 6 ft tall and 6 feet wide. Molineux was over 5 feet here before I s/p'd him. See, it is so hard to say how big they will get since it varies so much by garden and climate. I planted according to the estimates from HMF and the different vendors when I first planted roses and ended up having to move a lot of roses. It makes it hard to plan where to put a rose! They give the best information that they have but it does vary so very much!
