No roses blooming here in zone 3 (there 6 inches high or there abouts for out of zone ) to send a photo with wishes ... but want to stop spring planting to say happy birthday and enjoy the blooms.

Sue, am I ever glad I decided to grab a quiet bowl of cereal in front of the computer this morning during this busy, busy holiday weekend - otherwise, I would have missed entirely celebrating your birthday! As it is, I'm a day late - but I think you should keep right on partying the whole weekend. :-) Happy Birthday, dear Sue! I hate to admit that a visit to your garden doesn't seem to be in the cards this year, but dag nab it, I WILL get out there someday, I promise. I don't have any roses in bloom yet, but this is what we currently *are* enjoying - hope you like lilacs, too.

Jeri, thanks so much for the warm weather wishes. Yesterday was pretty gray and wet but today I'm lazing on the hammock in the sunshine watching the birds and butterflies. Great way to grow older! Hope you're in full recovery from the CoR - your photos were exquisite!

Carla, you're so sweet. Most of the pictures I post were taken by Marji, but I always take the credit and then call her in to the computer to read them. For my birthday, she cracked me up when she told me that she wouldn't trade me for all the teas and chinas. And then fed me seafood at Ray's Boathouse where we watched the late afternoon Memorial Day weekend race as all of the pleasure boats left the Chittenden Locks for open water.

Fang, my dear, thank you for all the beautiful pictures and love from you and the huskers. I'm thinking of all of you at Rosalia today and am 100% there in spirit. I'll bet the garden is stunning and I know the company can't be improved upon one whit! Have fun.

Carol, I love that clematis! The only thing I regret about our last trip to South Carolina was missing a visit to your house, no, your garden, no, your pup. Okay, all of those. I HAD to go meet Pat Henry and see her garden, but I've always been so disappointed that we weren't able to share that evening with all of you, especially listening to Cinderella sing amidst your roses. I smelled the first Mme Alfred Carriere and nearly fell to my knees. Cheap drunk, huh! I can't imagine how you cut your buds off to make them bloom later. And you keep yourself to 100. Anita, the roses are all perfectly healthy and the cuttings are at my house while Patricia is in Germany at Sangerhausen. Anne, what a gorgeous lilac! Oh my! We have a white one and a purple one. I love them but they don't seem to have the intense scent I remember from Maryland.
