I had a little helper in my lasagna pile the other day myself. A neighbor on a 55 ton Kabota tilling my lasagna bed and compressing every tiny bit of oxygen out of the only healthy, virgin soil on the property. It's hard to shoot someone who thinks they're doing you a favor, but I did it anyway. I've got one more layer in my lasagna. A green.

We have a neighbor, salt of the Earth guy, who as a favor every spring, runs around with his Massey Furgason and ploughs everyones garden. Then, in a couple-three weeks, when he gets around to it, he switches off the plough, and puts on the tiller, and then goes around and tills everyones garden.

There are a lot of gardens around here with staunch, permanent wooden corrals around them, mine has a series of permanent cattle panels and t-posts, and so on, making access impossible to tractors and their implements.

I have a small refrigerator on the back patio and the raccoons have been known to open the door and put their little paws on everything inside... They make quite a mess.

The robins do their share of moving mulch around and picking worms out of my flower beds, too.
