Uh-Oh. Did I screw up?

My small yard is in full sun. Hot scorching, direct sun. I decided to plant a tree. Looking at the label it said Crape Myrtle "Muskogee" gets 20x15. To me that sounds like a small tree. Of course, labels are not reliable. After internet research I find out they can get really big. Well, too big for my plot, I think.

This is the tree in question.

This is from the end of my patio. Pay no attention to that sorry excuse for a shed. It's getting fixed next week. That "tree/weed" in the very back of the yard grew on it's own and is coming out.

I can't really put it anywhere else except of the middle which is only about a foot over. I'm guessing that's not gonna help much. I'm told that it will make a yard appear much smaller if you put it in the middle anyway. So that's not really an option. It's small enough as it is.

Two questions. I planted this yesterday so if I need to I can put it back in it's pot. (I hope) Is this too large of a tree for this space? I live in a townhouse w/ neighbors on both sides of me. I don't want to affect their water pipes or cause damage.

Also. if need be can this be a container tree? Or is that out of the question due to it's size?

I know I can keep it pruned or whatever they call it to keep it smallish but in reality, finances are tight and I don't know if I can afford to have someone do this every year. And I certainly can't do it myself. Not when it gets tall.

Advice would be appreciated. Thank You!
