did you buy it this year.. ??? if not.. you could have pinched it back.. a couple times during the growing season .. to make a more compact plant .. which would have stood up better ... but it has been hit by hard frost/freeze.. so it is that time of year .... if that sidewalk is snowblowed [??? is that a word???] ... then i would suggest there must be some pruning.. or it might get ripped out of the ground ... not to mention.. that it will get slimey as heck.. and it looks like it is laying over the step to the doorway ... and you dont want to slip on it ... if all that is correct .. prune it back ... and cover it with a couple inches of mulched leaves ... bury it .. but do not suffocate it .. in my experience.. it is very shallow rooted.. and in that spot .. [cement retains winter sun heat] it has the potential on sunny winter days.. to go in and out of dormancy.. and nothing will kill a mum faster than that.. hence the mulching ... to keep the sun off dark soil in winter ... ken

Here it is with the wallpaper and new bulbs, which echo the ones over the kitchen bar which is similar to the console. I know the chandelier isn't a showstopper, but do like the way everything relates to each other, and am thrilled to just have the house done. Thank you, rred, for all the help and suggestions!

Brettfelouzis, then the size of the light should be between 20” and 24” long. You could get away with 20” I think. Here’s what I did:: took some painter’s tape and marked out the lengths of the lights I considered by the door. Then I knew which way I was leaning. The “heaviness” of the light plays a role I think, as well. The more metal there is, the more presence it has and thus is visually heavier and in such a case, I would likely choose a 20” option. This is an example from my garage (my front door has a pendant, otherwise I would show it), these are 20” long. I would have gone longer but we couldn’t find any we liked. In the end, you just have to try the light out and if you don’t like it, return it.

look 'into' into bills pic.. and note that there are no 2 or 3 inch large thick old trunks ... and that is what he removed.. and that is why his looks so nice ... and also.. he didnt do it at height ... they are all straight and young from down low .... its a lot easier to do this when they are leafless.. so you can see whats in there ... brilliant on the experimenting.. thats how i taught myself all this stuff ... so two thumbs up ... there wasnt any WWW to look at ... we just hacked the carp out of things .. and then observed the result... and eventually learned what not to do .. thats back when we could remember year to year.. lol .. one thing for sure.. you can barely kill old shrubs with pruning alone ... so dont worry about all that ... brilliant tutorial bundtcake ... thx for taking the time and effort for posting it .... there used to be a lot of that back in the day on these forums ... and then i stopped doing it.. lol ...whoa.. almost broke my arm patting myself on the back ... not as flexible as i used to be ... maybe ill take the knife out of one of the kids hand.. and ask them to pat me on the back .. lol ... but i digress ... good luck .. ken
