Comments (31)Laura..Everyone certainly has their gifts in plants and you are certainly no exception in the Desert Rose plants and with people!:-) You never cease to amaze me with not just your kindness, but you ability to grow many things that mant people can not, even with winter against you. Just wonderful and lovely! The one you gave me, the sis, she's still alive but bald at the moment!lol Beautiful looking plants and the roots, wow. Jojo, thanks so much! You know me. If it is not an unusual plant, I won't buy it. I have seen many Philodendrons. I think that Karen has a remarkable one too, Now, one like hers I would buy also! Look at you go with nw rootings. I hope they root well for you. The key is to keep changing out the water and to keep them warm. Hum, in Arizona, I see no problems..lol Good to see you again! Tropicbreeze, I hope to own one of them someday. I hear they are so nice in bloom:-) Tommy, I just found out the other day that there is such a thing as fragrant violets. Hummmm. Greybird, I hope they make it. I love that origonal C.C! Eahamel..That's wonderful! LauraR..How are the Gollum cuttings coming along? Do you use lots of light? Rina and Marg..You are just too nice, So nice to share. Rina, you know how I feel about the Black Princes plant? I always wanted one of those! Nice. Teengardner..I hope yours lal root just fine. Hope you have lots of room for them too:-) Gail..Nice. Mine are in the dark basement too. Doing good:-) Mike...See MoreSo what have you killed so far this year?
Comments (20)Did we have a worse winter than usual for zone 5? My 1 yr sweet autumn clematis hasn't returned. Another established clematis, type 3, didn't return. If it's Venosa Violacea I'm going to be upset, I have to check my garden "map". My container spruce, which I wrap well each year and made sure to water during warmer temps is really brown. My 2 year Fothergilla Major Mt. Airy died. My 1st year Willow Hakuro Nishiki looks completely dead. My 3rd year Golden Spirit died back to the snow line, but this didn't happen in prior years. My "Grace" came back a real winner, no dieback at all. My Sombreuil Rose bush, which I usually bury the crown, wrap in burlap and cover each winter, though the only thing I did this past winter was cover the crown and nothing more, returned with very little dieback to my amazement. Better than any other year. Go figure. Some hostas, which I was warned last year after purchasing that they aren't hardy, never to be seen again. Some groundcover sedum which probably never had a chance to establish -- nothing. Also lost a Weigela My Monet, thankfully still under warranty. Very Bad year!!!! Oh, and don't fret about the Asters. I had several varieties and they've all disappeared. I suspect it's the rabbits....See MoreWhat seedlings do you hate to yank?
Comments (28)Texas, your little plant in the crack is absolutely charming! Unfortunately, my columbine gets to be about 2 to 3 feet tall, and is in the middle of my patio! Actually, this year I noticed the roots are finally starting to move the pavers, so I guess it really is time to move it. I searched back for a photo of it, *knowing*, jus tknowing, that I have one that shows it growing out of the patio, but I just can't find it. I did, however, find a photo of the blooms, and luckily, it was labeled. It is a Woodside variegated columbine (although I doubt that a bit since it is NOT variegated...?) I think perhaps I either mislabeled the photo or didn't put enough info. Anyway, here is a photo of the blooms. I'm also going to post another photo of it with some deutzia that was growing in a pot on the patio next to it. The only reason for the second photo is that I loved the combination, lol! Comments (23)Sometimes I look at a plant and I can see clearly that it needed help for a couple weeks and it went unnoticed. That's the most frustrating, to me. I just wish it could have spoken up and gotten my attention. It's like my mom says, "no one ever forgot to feed a cat." But I think their silence is probably what helps me not get mad at them. They're just so piteous. Silently suffering from x y or z. Even our skilled eyes can miss their emergency flares, sometimes. I've been dealing with some underwatering issues myself the last few months, LC, so I hear your pain. There's nothing like seeing a plant go from robust to desiccated over something so ... SIMPLE! AHHH! The fertilizer burn freaks me out! It's only a matter of time till I do something like this. Tis the law of human error. Bygones, Tammy. ^_^/...See Morerouge21_gw (CDN Z5b/6a)
