Pruning Knock out roses

I'm just starting in the hobby of growing roses. I thought it would be best to start with knock roses, because I've been that they were easy to start out with. So back in Febuary just after valentines I bought my self a Knock out rose bulb that Whole Foods were selling out in front. I think it was in March that they started bloom and grow beautiful flowers. But in the begining of April they started to wilt and all I have is what I call the stump. It is what the pettles surrounded inside the flower. How do I prune it so I can get more roses? Do I cut the "stump"(I'm sure there is a specific term I just don't know what it is at the moment.)? I've read online that If I don't prune or do any cutting to it that it will grow bigger. Is that true? I just do not know and I could really use the help.
