Weeping Willow

I planted a small weeping willow (7 feet) last year in my small back yard/patio. I know that there is not adequate space for it when it gets bigger and will no doubt have to be removed.

I understand that these trees can do damage to water pipes and/or foundations so long term is definitely not in my plans. It looked great last year and is already starting to sprout leaves for the coming year. I would like to keep it for a few seasons if it doesn't become much of a threat.

My question is, how big could I let it grow before it begins to get too invasive. The trunk is only about 2-3" in diameter. I was thinking that in the small space it might live a season or two and then die, but it looks very healthy. I want to keep it at least through the 09 spring/summer/fall because it provides some good shade and privacy.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
