I was suppose to receive a Judy Garland from Heirloom, but, the order got messed up. lol
I placed my pre-order for this spring back in November of 09. I ordered a few roses and one was Mr. Lincoln, but, then changed the order to Judy Garland instead of Mr. Lincoln. Still got the Lincoln. lol

jim, did they fix it for you and send you the Judy Garland?

I really lost it last night and decided to order more roses. Went to Vintage and ordered four bands. I had ordered from Vintage last year and was pleased with their bands so decided to get some more. I ordered PURPLE TIGER which I had had grafted but died on me after afew years and I wanted to replace it. Plus BRITANNIA, which is in their Polyantha section but looks like the hybrid musks Marjorie Fair and Mozart to me. Very pretty and I have both of them so will be adding this one to the grouping. Also LICHTERLOH and CINNABAR, both Floribundas. I love floribundas.

I decided to just try Mr Lincoln in a large container for now. I do not spray, so, I only have 1 hybrid tea in our back yard. It has never got BS yet since July of 2007, so, I kept our Precious Platinum. The canes are not very winter hardy though and not much fragrance. But, with no BS problems, very much worth keeping. Told Heirloom no big deal and not to worry about the Judy Garland. From reports of other growers Judy doesn't have much BS resistance, so, not good for a no spray anyhow. lol

These days I can't buy many roses as my gardenbeds are full. But there always seems to be room for one more LOL!

Heirloom just sent an e-mail announcement of their new sale old garden roses. I don't know, some of the ones in the sale are hardy old garden roses. I am not getting any. Nothing I want or I already have it.

Then I got an announcement from Vintage that my order ships on 6/28. All four of them, no out of Stocks. I have tried to get the one CINNABAR last year but they were out.

This morning I was out there looking at my little roses that are blooming from last years bands. Looking great!

I never have any problems with bands. I plant them directly in ground were I want them to be and they grow very quickly. Now this spring they are not too much yet but by fall they will be surprisingly large already. By next spring they will look like all my other roses.

The flowers were all so pretty on the new ones this spring. I got some usual ones, at least I think so. Will get pictures one of these days.

I also ordered Tawny Tiger from that sale. Looking forward to getting it next week. I kept my order small, adding just that and Margarete Fuchs.

I ordered Outta the Blue from Heirloom (not on sale), Louise said, I should recieve it around June 11th. It takes 4- 5 days for a rose from Heirloom to reach here, so, Memorial Day kinda screwed things up. lol
It will get planted alittle late. But, i've planted in Mid -late July with no problems before.

I often plant bands directly in ground later than that and they do fine. Only difference is that the later planted ones are usually not as big next spring as the earlier planted ones. But they all catch up the next year so it doesn't matter that much.

If you like the color of OUTTA THE BLUE, look at MIDNIGHT BLUE. Very dark bluish purple.

Got mine today. Nicely rooted. Potted up into 2 gallon containers, and placed in cutting house so they will get misted. I'll keep them there for about a week and then see how they look. Can't wait to see that 1st bloom on Tawny Tiger. I think I'll make a spot next to Tiger Tail for it.

That Tawny Tiger looked very interesting in the picture and description. I think a bunch of us bought it during the sale.

TT is nice, but hasn't been vigorous for me. Maybe too close to the lawn people's machines and stuff...

My Heirloom roses came today and I unpacked them. Small as usual. No matter, they always grow well for me here. I have so many roses in my garden from Heirloom now and they all look good. Grow quickly.

I have another order of roses to come at the end of the month. My order of bands from Vintage. Thats it for me. Hopefully I will not get the crazies to buy more roses this year.

My Outta The Blue arrived from Heirloom yesterday.
Even though it was pouring rain outside I had it planted before the UPS could get back in his truck. lol
Guess planting fast will always be my trade-mark. lol

Well, mine are still not planted. I only unpacked them and left them on the back patio table. Not that it will be any big deal to plant them as the band sizes are very easy to plant. Another reason I love to buy bands.

I ordered 3 OGRs, Madame Issac Pierre, a Moss rose called Alfred de Dalmas and La Reine, which I've wanted for some time. I'll probably keep them in pots for a year and plant next spring.
