Well I guess I am red-faced for not looking closely. It is $109. for that unit brand new. Still probably less than the trouble to go through the wires. Someone mentioned to me that there is a kill switch associated with the engagement clutch. I did change out that cable earlier in the season. Although it worked fine for several mowings- I wonder if something went wrong there? I don't remember any wires connected to it. BTW the seat switch appears to be working as it clicks and I remember the guy I hired checking that one and saying it was good. I also checked the ground and it is snug. .He bypassed the ignition kill switch with a loop, so that leaves the engagement cable?

not familiar with the lt2000, was given a lt1000 that would run but not move. had to pull handle in rear to push onto trailer. when i got it home i unloaded it and put handle in. checked to see if i could push it and could not which indicated to me that the transmission was engaged. started it and still did not move, checked belts and were okay, checked keys and okay. the lever on top of trans. was not fully engaged towards front of mower. had to tap with a hammer and it moved about a 1/4 inch. started mower and moved control handle and away i went. the lever was dirty and i think is spring loaded. mine does not have spring on it to pull into the engaged position and was not quite going to where it should just my thoughts larry

That is one of the jokes in the manual of my John Deere LT155. There are pages and pages of warnings, such as don't put your hand in the rotating blades, don't smoke when pouring gasoline, don't touch the hot engine. don't run over your toes when moving the tractor. The only warning that is not in the manual is the one to keep the muffler box clear of debris. This box is a shield around the actual muffler and is under the tractor between the front wheels. It is a perfect place for grass clipping to collect, BUT unless you make it a point to check it is not obvious when debris is in there. The only safety problem I have every had with the tractor, was when the grass in the box caught fire. I was mowing a long when I smelled grass burn. I checked all around the yard but continued a 100 feet before I notice smoke coming from under the tractor. Fortunately I was able to put it our before any damage was done to the tractor.

I think I'm onto something. Apparently Sears help line doesn't know this but the drive belt is always under tension. That's why I couldn't see a connection from the motion control lever. It's apparently a broken spring. It's sad when the manufacturer doesn't know how their product they try advising you on works.
