Comments (10)I also use Foliage Pro with all my container plants. I add to FP Pro Tekt (also a DynaGrow product). The NPK rating of ProTekt is 0-0-3 which may not seem like much of a fertilizer, but if you research the ratio of nutrients veggies (and most other plants) use a lot use them in a 3:1:2 ratio (which is what Foliage Pro presents), but some use them in a 3:1:3 ratio (tomato, eggplant, pepper) and still others in a 3:1:4 ratio (watermelon, carrots and believe it or not, lettuce). By mixing the FP and PT at the same dilution and then combining them the 3:1:2 ratio of FP can easily be adjusted to 3:1:3, 3:1:4 etc. There is another potential benefit of the ProTekt. It feeds the plant silicon. While it may sound crazy to feed a plant silicon, it's actually present in most soils in amounts higher than phosphorus. It's not considered an essential plant nutrient, but in plants able to store it in tissue it tends to make them more disease resistant by making it more difficult for fungi to penetrate the tissue. It also improves the plant's ability to regulate transpiration. I used PT last year from seedling to adulthood to see if it would be effective against foliage diseases on tomato and other plants. Unfortunately last year was a very odd year in my area weather wise. While no plant developed any foliage disease worth noting I can't say if it was the PT or the weather. I will continue using it this year to modify the NPK ratio, but also to see if the disease reduction occurs again....See MoreAnyone use RAW nutrients from NPK industries
Comments (28)I personally have used the all in one grow and flower version and i still continue to use the full regiment of NPK RAW nutes in a soil mix with phenomenal results. You may not have the best luck on your first try around as it does have a slight learning curve on application as you can really adjust the program for what each and every plant wants and needs the most. As we all know all strains are and want different concentrations. thats why i dont like the whole 20-20-20 crap, Ive never had healthier nor happier plants until i used NPK RAW. Im not gonna lie im not a huge fan of thier all in one mixtures but that goes right back to not every plant wants the exact same thing as its neighbor. You cant go wrong with adding like Kelp, Humic Acid, Fill up, Omnia and some microbes maybe even some B-vitamin the best part of all is just with those couple of types you can make like 3 separate and different foliar sprays like kelp and humic acid mixed in a small dose and used foliar is awesome. VT did a 10 year study on it I found out as im from VA but i digress. Harley is just a guy who loves what he does and is backing a product he truly gets excited about who can blame him. if you would actually watch the whole videos you would see he knows his shit without a doubt. seems like some people just hate on them without any valid argument or even knowing anyone that has used the line of nutes but they will always say that their own regiment is better than everyone else's. Dont forget you can get the super small bags for hella cheap like 10-12 bucks on amazon or they have a starter kit with all the nutes they sell for like 90-110$ and that will run you a full grow and have some left over to start your next. Id say go for it man its worth every penny...See MoreDyna-gro Pro-tek or Maxicrop for rose midge?
Comments (36)Dave- I haven't used it yet. CoriAnn uses it. I'll ask her. I'll let everyone know if I see any improvement to anthracnose after I foliar spray since I don't have much blackspot. I'll also see if it helps with aphids since I have these too. Patty- funny in a not funny, haha, way! I think "ironic" might be the better word. Is anthracnose as bad a disease as black spot? My roses look awful but they still have their leaves unlike with bs. And some of the Kordes are fine as is Julia and my DA Windermere and Queen of Sweden. I'm still learning. Since it doesn't cause complete defoliation I'm thinking (hoping) it might be the lesser of two evils. I haven't sprayed yet, partly out of laziness but mostly out of concern for the environment. So many of these products are harmful to aquatic life. Our property abuts a designated swamp. I'd hate to cause damage to the eco-system there. My hydrangeas and hostas look fine so it doesn't seem as bad as yours. I'll let you know when I use the Pro-tekt. With luck it just might do what it says it does. Wouldn't that be great :-) Kelp4Less has silica powder available for hydroponics. According to the info it has recently been approved asa plant nutrient recognized by science. It's helpful for those who especially grow in raised beds or pots which CoriAnn does. I have bought from Kelp4Less. They're a bit pricy but have great service and organic products. The video is a bit long but here's the link if anyone is interested- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YB5pBCdnMTE Dave- it seems according to the Kelp4Less is used as a drench not a foliar spray. It might be because they are geared more to hydroponics though. Their's is neutral ph. There are 9 reviews by buyers that say they see improvement in stem strength, leaf strength and disease resistance. I don't think CoriAnn gets much disease in CA where she gardens but she does get extreme heat and uses Pro-tekt for heat and drought stress. Comments (3)Cori Ann used this to help her plants deal with the extreme heat and it seemed to help. Her roses were amazing anyway. I wonder if it helps with the integrity of the outer stem cells and if so might make it more resistance to midge. Probably just wishful thinking on my part! H! A girl can hope! : )) Still, it might be worth a try especially on smaller plants to help get them through that tenuous period before they decide to live....See Moremichaelg
