@rr4580 Mine is a full size trash pull-out, 13 gallon can, with paper towel above. The opening for the towel holder is 5.5 x 12. The problem I found is that paper towel rolls have grown in diameter since 2011, so they no longer will go in my holder until they have been partly used. But my holder was very rudimentary, it's one of those metal springy paper towel holders, installed sideways in a recess that would have been a drawer. A better design like firstmmo's could allow a modern roll. There are about two inches from the top of the garbage can to the top of the pull out cabinet face, so you could definitely get another inch there if you are doing custom cabinets.

Kitchen towels are only in white and therefore you don't have to worry about anything matching or needing to bleach anything or using the "wrong" towel for anything. They're all the same. I buy cheap 100% cotton terry Doctor Joe automobile polishing towels and use them in the kitchen and garage. Once they get a bit stained from kitchen use, they become garage towels. If you buy in bulk cheaply and have plenty on hand, you won't be searching for one when you need it. Group some by the sink, and others by the prep area and yet others in the laundry area. Yes, I use them for cleaning up cat puke. The yuck goes down the toilet and the towel goes in the laundry with bleach. About 2 dozen is a good starting number for the average household. If you have a large household, then maybe double that. I use an old bucket that cat litter came in as the "hamper" in the pantry. If I'm doing a project that requires a lot of them and they're too many to just drape over the side and air out behind closed doors, I usually put them on a baking sheet and place them in the oven as it's cooling down. Use that "lost heat" for something! Do you want to talk about bottled water? We switched to a filter pitcher several years ago and bought a case of bottled water annually and just refilled the bottles as we drank the original water. But they were difficult to sanitize properly and after a recent bout with a nasty GI bug that the other half blamed on a water bottle, I received a dozen plain stainless steel water bottles as a holiday present. So far, they've been a lot easier to clean and fill and I'm really glad we switched.

No worries usually from my experience. I often soak seeds and kinda forget for a few days and I have never had a problem. This year I molded over some peas, and I can tell no difference from the other batch that did not mold. Peas are up and looking healthy, I only see two bare spots out of 30, so it does not appear to discourage germination. The only flower seed that I have done that to was some very old humming bird vine seeds, and they came up too.

Just a couple of thoughts. Paper towel rolls are still changing in size to include really wide rolls that won't fit in most paper towel holders. If you do go for the built-in one, make sure it can accommodate the size you buy. Nobody needs to have their paper towel holder join the tiled-in toilet paper holders, toothbrush holders and soap holders that I have that are useless. Because of recent shortages, I started using cheap dish cloth in place of a lot of former paper towel uses. Not for things like pet mess, or other biohazards. They rinse out and are washable - best of all cheap.
