Rainbow Knock Out vs. Easy Does It

I recently bought two Rainbow Kock Out tree roses to place on either side of my driveway, but after reading about how much these fade in full sun, I'm tempted to exchange them for Easy Does It tree roses.

Does anyone have experience with both? Thoughts on how they might compare? I'm trying to create a "cottage garden" look so Rainbow Knockout without the fading would be wonderful... but if it fades too much I'm afraid I won't get the look I'm trying to create.

I would not hesitate to trade RKO for EDI. EDI is a wonderful rose.

I'm beginning to wonder if there is anyone out there that even likes Rainbow Knock Out...

I tend to really like singels quite a bit. Maybe Happy Chappy in tree form might be a good choice instead? I'd still get that single cottage garden with blooms that (I'm hoping) won't fade as unattractively as Rainbow Knock Out.

In Kansas Zone 6, Double Knock Out is somewhat smaller than Knock Out, but you must be growing them Texas style--BIG! My Double Knock Out and my neighbor's Knock Out do not get "hugh" -- although neither one is a smaller bush. Differences in temps and growing conditions, I guess. Kate

Now I am agonizing between these two.... As a tree how would Rainbow Knock Out compare to Pink Drift? I know the flower is smaller, but I'm wondering if Pink Drift might have less fading in the sun. Also, would amount of blooms and length of bloom time be as heavy. Are the Drifts constant bloomers like Knock Outs? Thanks for any help!!! I bought the Rainbow Knock Out but I keep reading over and over how it fades in the sun. I even went to one of my local nurseries and was able to find a few there from last year and sure enough... the blooms looked really faded and unattractive. I'm guessing it's a much better rose in parital shade...

The 'Duchesse de Brabant" was a first runner up. About comparing personal observations with the results of the report, there is no possible comparison of the results of the referenced trial with results observed in a "good home." At least, that is certainly my impression of the trial. The roses were severely stress tested; the roses were not coddled in ANY way. As I read it: "Plants were provided with minimal amounts of water and fertilizer, no control for diseases and insects, and no grooming or deadheading." I think of it like being planted in a graveyard and subsequently being forgotten and untended for years. Surviving such conditions in Florida is quite a feat.

Double Knock Out roses for $5.00 at Lowes ...

Yeah, they do the same thing here. But not so good of a deal. Last year one of the lowes across town did the same thing w/ tropicals. We "rescued 15 different plants. I am still nursing a majesty palm back to health and so far I am doing quite well. I am always out for a good deal at lowes sometimes they have good deals and at other times they are not so good.

Okay okay... as I agonize over this... this is my last question on this tree rose choice.... THANKS for any help!!!!

Okay... another vote for Easy Does It! Thanks for sharing your opinion. I keep reading good things about that rose. The tree roses are so expensive and I'd be plaicing it in a very visible spot so want to make sure I'm getting something I'm going to be happy with it.... so Thanks!!!!!
