I just spent the morning working 7 yards of compost

into my beds. I've got seven more yards to work in in a couple or three weeks. I'm sure the soil was too wet, but I've only got weekends with no rain to work.

I've got Patterson type soil, and the compost and leaf mould really help loosen the texture.

Earthworms were much more prevalent than in the past. I guess all the OM I've been working into the soil for the last two years is starting to pay off.

The horse manure/woodshaving pile has gone cold. I'm mixing that with sods cut from new beds to heat it back up.

I think I did too much today. I'm just over bronchitis that I got from the grandkids. It just felt too good to be working the soil again to quit when I should have.

Thanks for reading the ramblings of a wanna be gardener.
