I don't have anything to really weigh in on the matter or xenox or other dark sedums... I only have autumn joy and matrona. But I had no idea what I had was matrona lol. I received two cuttings from a former co-worker last June, I believe. I stuck them in the ground but haven't really seen them in full fall flower (they had small buds on them when I got the cuttings but they never bloomed). So at any rate, I just wanted to say thanks for naming my sedum :) But, i do love Lynda Windsor... saw it on Blue Stone and I'd love to get a few of those

If you are calling Turkish sedum Sedum ellacombianum, my experience has been this: I planted it when there was a lot of sun on the area within 6' of a small river birch. the sedum has florished but now that the birch puts it in nearly all day shade it is thinning out. Seemed to do fine when in a half day's sun or more. Again if this is Sedum ellacombianum, it doesn't "run" but the clumps slowly expand. Because of this I'm not sure that it would be a good erosion control plant. You can spread it in midsummer when the bases of the stems get "woody." Pull a stem, strip all but a few leaves on the tip, stick a pencil in the ground to make a hole, insert the bare stem fairly deeply, press the soil against it. A new clump will start there. Sounds like you bought Angelina sedum. . .one of my favorites. It likes sunny, dry conditions but will tolerate a little shade and moisture. Don't plant it under a tree. Plant it out in the open. It'll grow into one large mass of color if you install the plants about a foot apart. So it doesn't much matter whether you plant rows or clusters. It looks gorgeous in front of a plant with bright red or magenta blooms, such as Linda Campbell rose or Dart's Dash.

Thanks for the quick reply. I just got it and am putting it under some LED lights that have been doing very well by my other plants. I have two options, there. One plant shelf has an LED rated at 800 lumens and 5000k (color temp) about one foot above the plants and the other shelf has a 1700-lumens light at 5000k about 2 feet above the plants. In other words, a choice of shorter distance at lower power or farther distance (by one foot) at greater power. Also, I have only recently learned about the Kelvin rating, as it applies to brightness. I have read that 5000k mimics mid-day sun and is, thus, optimal. Feel free to disagree, if necessary. I've gotten bad info before in my online research. Who hasn't, eh? lol
