Cant keep craftsman rider running
Comments (5)Also, make sure the seat switch connecting plug is fully inserted. This is one of the seat switch types that are normally closed and need to open to allow spark. The connector has a "shorting tab". That means if you disconnect the plug, the "tab" completes the circuit and prevents spark....See MoreCraftsman--clutch safety switch
Comments (14)mine is an older unit, it is attached to the top of the frame pointing down, can only see the moving end from the bottom. you may have to whip all the crud off to see it. I agree at least give something to go on. like model number (under the seat) series numbers (Like LT1000, 2000, ect. or DLT2000 ect...Some of sears LT's only have model number under the seat (lift it up and wipe the crud off) so people couldn't compare prices to other brands, these were usually lower end models Like LT or DLT 1000's or 2000s? Switches are easily bypassed by jumper wires, drilling a hole inserting a small screw locking the buttom closed, or just cutting wires and wiring them togather as I've seen, this is what makes old LT a pain to work on cause you never know what your getting? LOL! the switches are there for a purpose and are still available and relative cheap 4 or 5 bucks in most causes, I don't understand why so many people bypass them there are there for our safety? like replacing a light switch in our home! either it's on or off, we don't bypass light switches???????? OK maybe some even do that! That would be the extreme fire hazzard!!! wouldn't it! I never had alot of money, but I never skimp on things I that needed fixen!...See MoreCraftsman safety switch troubleshooting
Comments (14)wrongo I have to agree but,So you just need two or three jumpers for that double switch, again provide you know what the switch does in each mode. I see these switches jumped from time to time and when you buy used you NEVER know what your going to get. Lets face it people are either too lazy or too cheap to repair a cheap switch that all it does is make contact. The bad part is and I agree if bypassed the safety function it provides is "gone" and Some will cut the wires and just wrap them togather. Luckily Most do not understand elect device, understand the use of a multimeter, or have the knowledge to deactivate it as we have seen by the low precentage posts the pop up "HOW DO I Disconnect my RIO switch" . Right or wrong it happens all the time. Something you need to be aware of when buying used LT from Newpapers (about to be the thing of the pass) or online adds. That's why when somebody buys used and want's the tractor to function properly at the time of it's manufacture it's best to test these functions so when you need them they are there to protect you. MTD or AYP products seems to be on the cheesey end of switch design and function so naturally they have most of the problems...See MoreCraftsman LT-1000 rider runs poorly w/Ethanol
Comments (45)Hi, This is a 21 HP Briggs 2 cyl engine. I'm very careful with my gas. Get fresh monthly Strain before putting in to tank Keep gas in dry shed Just changed filter Tried Startron in one tank, no change Ran better in summer yes, but still not right. If I choke slightly even at high RPM it smoothes out some. I have lots of gas powered equipment and this tractor runs worst than anything else. All other items 2&4 stroke even my 20 year old Snapper push mower are running fine. I probably need to pull carb off and go through it, but this makes no sense to me as I'm so careful with gas. I think it needs to be re-jetted some how as there is no adjustments. This could be a nightmare unless some has already figured out what to put in it....See Morebill_kapaun
