How aggressive is Golden Creeping Jenny?
Comments (40)Did you plant these in end of May/June? I always plant water/shade lovers like these in cool weather. Planting them in early Summer in Texas is your problem . They have gone from planting stress immediately to heat stress and not having any time to establish deep water delivering roots.. How much sun does it get? I can't really tell you how long it will take to establish. I do not know your ground or how growing conditions in Houston. My suspicions are that you will have stalled plants no matter what you do till it turns cooler. If it is getting sun, I would put up some cardboard baffles to protect it. Can you put in a temporary soaker hoses? I combine them with a manual timer and that saves gobs of time hand holding a hose....See More'Golden' Jenny vs. 'Creeping' Jenny
Comments (5)I have some of the golden jenny. Lysimachia mummularia "Aurea" indeed. I keep mine WELL AWAY from my lawn. Here's some info I found: Hardiness Zones: 3 to 8 Height: 6 in Spread: 12 in Type: herbaceous perennial Flowers: Yellow Comments: Creeping Jenny (Vis. 1) can be used as a ground cover and will tolerate shade. As an alternative, the plant may be grown in a hanging pot. The plant also produces yellow flowers (Vis. 2). Use it with caution as Creeping Jenny can become a lawn weed. The plant prefers a moist soil and can be used near water. Propagation: Propagation is by division in autumn or spring and may be needed to keep the plant under control. Cuttings may also be used. Cultivars: 'Aurea' - The leaves are bright yellow. Here is a link that might be useful: Reference...See MoreCreeping Jenny (Golden Lysimachia)
Comments (1)I would say, No, because it is too low to be cut by a lawnmower....See MoreExperience with Golden Creeping Jenny? Aurea
Comments (5)I've had it for 4 years now and it's not reverted. I have it in part shade and full shade and it's yellow in both places. It needs water. I really love it. Keep it away from your lawn, though. I would NOT, repeat NOT, put it in the front of a bed. It WILL jump into your grass and then you will be sorry you ever saw this plant. Right now, I am having trouble with this plant for the 2nd year in a row. It has become the choice buffet for a particular sawfly larvae. I'm trying to control it, but I've not yet found the right chemical....See Morechristinmk z5b eastern WA
