Hi,
We have a Homelite electric string trimmer. It uses .080 line so it really whacks things good and has been excellent until this year there is a short or bad wire somewhere. It worked for a short time then nothing. So of course we took it apart and tightened things up and that worked - for about half an hour. Hubby then says it needs a new plug, gets something from the hardware store and wires it in and no luck.
The numbers on it say 120V 6.0A 6500mhz 60 hz UT41002 "String Trimmer" I can't find anything that says model number and the serial number is partially worn off.
We live in wildfire country (when things dry out in summer) so a gas trimmer is something we feel comfortable with only when it's spring and wet. The weeds are over my head in some spots and drying (a lot of rain this year) and we've hacked a path to the garden with hedge trimmers!
Hubby says this one is good because it uses bigger string than other electric ones and really whips through stuff good and clean so he'd like to fix it. Any ideas? And if it sounds beyond repair, any ideas of what's comparable out there?
Oh, also it says "When repairing use only genuine Homelite Parts." Where would a person find these? So far hardware stores and repair shops seem more interested in selling us a new one.
Thanks!
