I bought my Village Green- Deluxe Walk-in Greenhouse- "12 sturdy shelves for pots and seed trays" at the Big Lots in Santa Ana, CA (USA) Exact Address: 3321 S Bristol St Santa Ana, CA 92704 when they had all their Summer products on sale for 80% off. It came out to only $12! (Originally $119). If it turns out to be amazing or Eh, either way, $12 is an amazing deal! Can't beat that! I was surprised they had so many left! :) Right now Kohl's has the exact same one one sale for $119.69 (Originally: $126). There isn't a better feeling in the world than finding a GREAT deal and then seeing it being sold online for an outrageous price! :)

I build my own greenhouses. They take a bunch of time, and you'll need assistance for some of the steps, but conservatively speaking, they wind up being twice as strong and half the cost of something you buy as a kit. My smallest greenhouse is 450 square feet, and some folks think that's a large structure. If you are thinking about something smaller, kind of a hobby size greenhouse, then building it yourself isn't difficult. How handy are you? Also, there are other types of structures that you might be able to use as greenhouses. My sister in the Detroit area found someone that sells car ports, and they are going out of business and practically giving them away. The steel tubing of the car port is perfect for a greenhouse, although the spacing of the ribs/bows might not be close enough. I suggested she buy two and make one greenhouse out of them with closer spacing for the ribs/bows. Even if you buy a kit, you still have to assemble the thing yourself, so my approach was to do the whole thing myself, and then I'm able to get what I want. Clair

Your $10,000 budget is the same as my own was, and presumably includes fitting it out? I'm asking, because if you want to use it year round, you will need to allocate at least a third if not more of your budget just for your foundation, utility lines, heater, fans, electrical wiring, outlets, fixtures, benches, etc. It really depends on what you want to do with it. I wanted to use mine primarially to house tropical fish year round in the blistering summers to sub-zero winters of the Midwest, so opted for higher quality and virtually climate controlled, but smaller than I really would have liked. My 12 X 16 Cross County GH cost about $6,000 delivered and I spent another $4,000 fitting it out. However, that included a heavily insulated, footed foundation, floor drains, a sump, finished quarry tile floor, dual combustion direct vent heater, thermostatically controlled exhaust fan/powered intake vents, ceiling fans, hot water heater for a large commercial SS sink, lots of electrical outlets, multiple water faucets, etc. If it had a bathroom, I could just about live in it. But that was to accomodate MY desires/needs for what I wanted to use my GH for. We each have our own. So the best advice I can give would be for you to decide what YOU want to use a GH for, and go from there, because $10,000 would buy a huge commercial clear vinyl covered hoop house you could drive an 18 wheeler through. But it would be striclty seasonal use with no foundation to speak of and at best, a water faucet. But first and foremost, look to your foundation and UG utility lines because you can always add extra accessories to your GH later, but once the structure is up, retrofitting the foundation or UG utilities would be virtually impossible without literally taking it down and starting over. BTW: The above costs were all DIY labor. If we had needed to contract it out, the costs would have been at least triple.

North Haven has annual rose event the first week of March/Last week of February every year, so many harder to find varieties sell out. People line up at 7:30am to get in. They do not update their list as their inventory diminishes, but Covington actually updates their entire stock list every evening. So, if it is on the Covington available stock list they likely have it. If you do go to Tyler then Breedloves for David Austins (they usually keep only a few varieties, but the healthiest of plants) and Chamblee's for own root (they have a big selection). Lastly, sometimes you can buy directly from Certified Roses and Roses USA. They are huge whole sale operations that supply to the Big Boxes. I don't think they normally sell to the public and are usually closed on weekends. We've been lucky and picked up off season discounted roses there for as little as $5 (Mister Lincoln, Fragrant Cloud, Mirandy, lavender crush and Pink Peace). These guys primarily carry grafted hybrid teas and landscape roses though, so if those aren't your cup of tea I wouldn't bother. These are literally the roses that will get shipped to Walmart, Home Depot, etc. Happy Hunting!
