Problem with Stihl Trimmer Spark Plug Connection

I have a Stihl FS80 trimmer that is less than two years old. When I went to remove the spark plug, the wire connection at the spark plug was difficult to remove. Though I tried not to pull on just the wire, the connector at the end of the wire under the boot came off the wire. I wish I could show a picture here - it seems like an odd type of connection. The connector isn't crimped on, but instead looks like a spiral wire with one end piercing through the side of the wire insulation. I don't know how the wire mates up with the connector; there's no solder joint or crimp. It's almost like the connector just broke off.

Kind of difficult to explain, but I wonder if anyone is familiar with that setup and has run into this before. Can it be repaired or replaced with a different connection? The entire wire can not be replaced since the other end of it is epoxy molded into a component on the trimmer.

Thanks for any help!
