Comments (2)I have a similar size unheated GH near Poulsbo, WA. You will need a fan and ventilation especially during the rainy season because fungus happens. I have a raised be inside and I grow broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage to keep bugs away. I grow basil because of the extra warmth. I did cherry tomatoes but have decided it is not worth the space just to get a few extra weeks of tomatoes at the end of the season when family is tired of eating tomatoes. I grow squash outside. Not so many pests to protect from and it takes up lots of space. I have been successful starting lettuce under lights with a heat mat on Jan. 20 then transplanting to the GH bed for very early salads. The light here seems adequate for lettuce then. I use the yellow sticky hanging cards to get rid of fungus gnats. Do not overwater GH plants. Good luck!...See MorePNW tomatoes form seed
Comments (40)On the Fungicide: It is just a preventive measure for foliage diseases that can affect both hybrids and OP/Heirlooms. I use it regularly , one every week to 1o days, depending on the weather. I use mostly Daconil. It comes under different brand names.Plus some kind of copper fungicide. I also use Neem Oil spray. This one can be effective on some pests like aphids and it is organic. So i rotate between those three. Later in the season that it gets wet and rains more, I also spray with chlorine ( 7oz Clorox per gallon of water) to fight gray Mold. With all these fungicides I try to prevent the disease as much as possible. Fighting them when infested is often is a lost cause. Do a search on "Fungicide" here in Growing Tomatoes " forum. You should find many interesting discussions. Sey...See MoreGlass Patio Cover in PNW?
Comments (1)Hey, I wonder if you ended up installing glass patio covers? I'm in PNW as well near Seattle and building a new home with a 30x12 covered patio. I'm not worried about the sun. The patio would be on the north facing side, so there'll be very little of it anyway. I want to install a glass cover too, as I am concerned a traditional covered patio would block light into that part of the house....See More- 12 years ago
