Will I regret planting Sweet Autumn Clematis in my small garden?

I have a tiny townhouse garden that is fenced on three sides. I was thinking of planting sweet autumn clematis on one side to cover the fence and provide fragrance in the fall. However, I don't want a thug that will take over my garden. I don't mind a few seedlings that I can pull up. I've also read that you can control it by cutting it back before it sets seed. Is this vine something that might work or is it too aggressive for a small space?
