The trees are perennials, that is, they live for many years. I think tomatoes and peppers under the right conditions can be perennials, but nothing else on the list is.

Some veggies are perennials. Chives, for instance, will come back every year; it takes a few years before asparagus will be harvestable. Rhubarb, horseradish and artichokes are also perennials in my region. Where you live has a great deal to do with what's "perennial" and what's not. If what you're looking for are perennial vegetables, contact your local cooperative extension and see what they suggest.

I was told at the garden center at Walmart that some plants called annuals are actually pernials in this climate because Texas has fairly mild winters. However, half my Habanero plants died in a small green house with a 100 watt light bulb (aluminium reflection, was enough for chickens my grandmother said) to keep it warm. I dug up all my plants, put them in pots, and moved them to the green house. I believe that could be a problem this year because I have between 300~500 plants, 99% with something edible, so I guess I'll save only the largest most healthy.

Perennial plants are "designed" to bloom and set fruit at a specific time anen continue to grow. Annuals bloom and bear constantly during the growing season and then die...they have set their seeds.
Certain plants like snapdragons which we treat as annuals up north can be a short lived perennial in the south.
But nothing on your list but the peach trees and the Avocado will live more than one season. It's not a matter of frost killing them, it's just that's what kind of plants they are.

I managed to keep half of the Habanero plants alive and now they are just starting to get tons of peppers, not ripe yet, just started. Also the same thing happened with a huge Serrano plant. Now they've got a head start on all the others that are coming from seed. Also at an old job I had, I saw a single Habanero plant that was HUGE! It had been alive at least 3 years and was giving the same amount of peppers each day that took all of mine (from the first season) to get. Check out the Wikipedia. Here's a quote.

That is very true. In the greenhouse, I was getting peppers till late Dec., early Jan.

Okay. The posters are right, and so are you :)
Habanero plants are annuals, EXCEPT where winters are extremely mild, which is what zone 8 has had for the last several years. The bigger the plant gets, the deeper its roots go, and the more resistance to cold it gets. If you have it in a greenhouse, obviously, it won't freeze. But even in a pot, if it were, say, against a brick wall on the southern side of your house, and you had a very mild winter, it is, indeed, perennial for you.

I would advise you to go to the vegetables forum. That is what most of your list is about. The southerners over there will be able to answer your questions far better than all of us ornamental gardeners over here.
