Can't help you with the lupines, but my baptisia have yet to emerge in zone 6. They are supposed to be late to emerge, so I wouldn't worry for a while yet!

I'm in Northern Illinois and my old Lupines are almost a foot tall, I did notice many new lupine sprouts throughout the garden and those are about 2" tall. I just went and checked on some Babtisias and they are also out, they still look like a bunch of "asparagus" sticking out of the ground (some from 3" -7" tall) but these are old plants as well...

Hopefully your plants are just a little bit late coming out of the ground, since they are still young plants. I also grew an Indigo plant from seed and it was slow coming up the first couple of years, so don't give up yet... they'll all up be up soon! :)

I planted a lupine last year at the end of the season. I see no signs of it yet either. I just assumed it was a gonner.

My lupine has been out for more than a month, it was green under the snow. Doesn't look good for your lupine, they are short lived plants. My baptisia is not out of the ground yet, so hopefully that one is fine for you!

My Baptisia has been up for a few weeks now...survived our late freeze, too.

My baptisia are just starting to emerge now. Have patience.

My lupine came out a few weeks ago, but don't despair yet - emregence at this point in the season is due to soil temperature; your soil may not be warm enough yet (perhaps it's shaded?).

Of course, they weren't there when I looked on Wednesday night, hence my answer yesterday... and this afternoon when I looked they have just started to sprout up. They're maybe 2in tall now. Maybe all of the rain in the past two days helped kick start them here? (It's been a very dry April for us.)

I noticed my first baptisia coming up when I checked my beds this afternoon.

I'm in a coastal area and while winter is mild, spring comes late to my yard. I've only JUST been able to see the Baptisia emerging from the ground.

Sit tight; it's a tough plant and cold hardy. It will be along, but only when it knows it's time.

My baptisia are about 6" tall..but they are in full sun.

I planted two lupines last spring having no idea they do not survive in my zone most of the time. Well one died and the other made it. Last week it began sending up a shoot...and this week VOILA!

I'm glad to hear that zone 5 people are just seeing baptisia now, I won't give up on mine just yet. ( They were new last year)

My baptisia just came up in the last couple of days. yeah!

Yippy!!! I found 2 of the 3 baptisia coming up and low and behold a small lupine - maybe a seedling from the parent or it's just VERY late coming up. Must be she knew I bought a new one to replace her.:)

I'm in Zone 5 but some times I think I'm more like a zone 4. I must learn to be more patient!

Last fall I purchased Baptisia 'Purple Smoke' and 'Twilight Prairie Blues' and placed them both in the ground in their pots to over-winter them. My 'Twilight Prairie Blues' appeared in late April, and is now in bud, and should flower soon. I almost threw out my 'Purple Smoke', since I thought it had died, but when I went to remove the pot last week, I noticed that it had a shoot about 1" long coming up.

Interesting, I'm in zone 4b and my baptisias have been blooming for over a week. They are in full sun and are about 4 years old.

I planted baptisia three years ago and have had mixed luck. One of the plants is still only one stem that comes up year in year out but does nothing more. The other, purple smoke was 5 hearty stalks strong and was covered for the mostof the month of May. Lupines.... haven't had a lot of luck.
